The mystery surrounding Loch Ness in Scotland, and the prehistoric creature that supposedly still lives there, has captivated people for years now. But there are similar legends all around the world, including in Georgia, USA.

Jeff Warren and his son came across the carcass of a mysterious creature when they were boating around the Barrier Islands in this area last week. When they stopped at Wolf Island National Wildlife Refuge in the Golden Isles, they came across something that at first looked like a dead seal, but on closer inspection Warren described it as being a "Loch Ness-type thing".

He used the zoom on his phone camera to get a close look, but apparently kept his distance as a bird was pecking at the corpse. He described it as having two fins and small teeth, and many since have pointed out how it looks just like Scotland's mythical Loch Ness monster, but smaller.

The local area has its own legend about an elusive creature, called the Altamaha-ha, or 'Altie' for short. The legend says that this creature resides in the Altamaha River, which isn't that far from where Jeff made his discovery, which you can see below:

Action News Jax reached out to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for further information on what it could be. Director Dan Ashe said some animals have a way of decomposing where they can start to resemble other animals, such as a Plesiosaur, adding that a lengthy basking shark could decompose in a way that it looks like he has a long neck and tiny head.

So, do you take his word for it? Or do you think there's something else going on?
