Incredible footage shows whale jump out of absolutely nowhere in front of tourist boat
Seeing animals in the wild is a great experience. Seeing nature in all its glory is beautiful enough in itself, but knowing that there's no exploitation or harm coming to the animal definitely helps. If you were catching a glimpse of penguins in an enclosure, odds are they're not comfortable out of their habitat - and the same goes for whales kept in tanks.
The biggest mammals in the world obviously shouldn't be confined to a small area, as they are in SeaWorld. Although many of us will have managed to see them through places like SeaWorld, there are plenty of whale-watching tours that keep their distance from the creatures.
If you find yourself on one of these boat tours, you'll hope to see a whale breach the surface of the water, even if it's just a dorsal fin. However, these tourists unexpectedly caught not only a breach - but a full-on leap from the water.
Filmed in port Macquarie, Australia, you can see the humpback whale hurling itself out of the water, and drenching the entire boat, in the video below:
"My family and I went on a whale watching adventure whilst on a holiday at port Macquarie," the videographer explained. "We saw a whale breach in the distance and I just knew I wanted one video; however, did not anticipate getting the magical shot I got."
Imagine being lucky enough to catch this in person - now that would be a memory to cherish!
