Anna Kendrick got mistaken for Anna Kournikova and her response was absolutely perfect
When people think about all the perfect celebrity couplings out there, a few names always come to mind; there's Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, and of course, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski. However, in this magical world of #CoupleGoals, it appears that we've been overlooking one special pairing, and that's Anna Kournikova and Enrique Iglesias.
For some reason, their relationship has been put on the back-burner by the press in recent years, and whether that's to do with the fact that they've been together for an eye-watering 17 years, or something else, the news that the notoriously private couple had welcomed twins last month took the entertainment industry by surprise.
However, one celebrity unwittingly found herself caught up in the media frenzy. And while Anna Kendrick shares a first name with Kournikova, she is not a Russian tennis player, and nor has she been dating Latin pop sensation, Enrique Iglesias, for the better half of two decades. Yes, the Pitch Perfect actress got confused for Anna Kournikova by Yahoo!, and her response was just perfect.
Anna Kendrick was forced to correct Yahoo! after they reported that Anna Kournikova had just welcomed twins, Nicholas and Lucy, into the world... with a photograph of the wrong Anna K. Instead of using an image of the blonde haired, retired professional tennis player, Yahoo! used a snap of Kendrick, who hardly even resembles the mother-of-two.
Her response, however, was pitch perfect.
"Dear Yahoo" the actress wrote, "how do I get to this timeline where I've slept with Enrique Iqlesias please and thank you."
Proving that she was more than willing to poke fun at herself, Kendrick then added: "I realize the confusion probably came from the two Anna K names, but she's a tall blonde athlete and I'm - oh, oh - do they think I'm the baby?"
And naturally, the people of the internet had a field day with the confusion and Anna Kendrick's hilarious response. One Twitter user jokingly wrote, "did you absorb the other twin in the womb?", while another added, "maybe they got confused because they saw how much vodka you can drink and assumed you were Russian", to which Kenrick replied, "SHUT UP LIZ NOBODY ASKED YOU OMG".
While we still can't understand how the people of Yahoo! let such an error slip through, they eventually got the memo and amended the article. Well, it certainly was a wild ride while it lasted - I mean, you can't be too offended if you're confused for Enrique Iglesias' girlfriend...
