Arnold Schwarzenegger's historic bodybuilding record which has stood for 57 years untouched has finally been smashed... by a teenager.

The former bodybuilder-turned-actor-and-politician started lifting weights at the age of 15, and it took him just five years to win the Mr. Universe title at the age of 20 - making history as the youngest person to get a "pro card".

Over five decades later, that record has now officially been broken by 19-year-old Anton Ratushnyi, after the teenager took part in the NPC National Championships at the Irving Convention Center in Irving, Texas over the weekend.

Ratushnyi secured the title of the youngest Classic Physique pro, and just like Schwarzenegger, he attained his own "pro card" as a result.

The young bodybuilding prodigy burst onto the scene earlier this year and has gained so much attention that the community is comparing him with the legends of all time.

He has amassed a following of more than 200,000 on Instagram, with every single one of his snaps containing close-up shots of him posing with his astonishing muscles on show.

Ratushnyi shared three posts celebrating his achievement, with one of the captions stating: "With overcoming lots of adversity over the last year, I can’t stress enough how important it is to believe in yourself and stay true to yourself no matter what others think of you.

"I’m so glad that I decided to pursue my true passion and didn’t let negativity get to me. I took the risk to prep again and challenge myself mentally, physically, and emotionally to not just succeed in bodybuilding but grow as a person that would be worthy of inspiring this new generation.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THIS IS YOUR NEW YOUNGEST IFBB CLASSIC PRO, and the OVERALL CHAMPION AT NPC NATIONALS 2023," he concluded.

Many fans flocked to the comments section to praise the sculpted teen, with one user applauding: "Making HISTORY out here."

Another interjected: "From haters claiming 'photoshop,' to becoming the youngest pro. congratulations Anton, what a rise you’ve had this year," and a third commented: "Congrats you legend."

A fourth applauded: "You did the damn thing man. You earned that s***. See you in a few weeks," while a fifth added: "Congrats my man you looked amazing!! Been awesome to see your journey so far."

In another post shared by the ambitious teen, many called for him to enter next year's Mr Olympia tournament, which could see him break another of the 76-year-old's records, should he win.

"Future Mr Olympia Classic Physique competitor," someone penned, while a second chimed in: "Olympia stage at 20 ? Would be insane."

After succeeding in the Classic Physique division, Ratushnyi can now participate in IFBB Pro contests, which means he gets to compete with some of the finest specimens on the planet.

When Schwarzenegger moved to the United States from Austria, he spent most of his time training at Joe Gold's gym in Venice Beach, Los Angeles - which is where he built and sculpted himself.

Back in 2015, Schwarzenegger was inducted into the gym - which his son Joseph Baena is frequently spotted working out at - for its 50th anniversary celebration.

"When I first came to America, I went to Gold's Gym before I even went to my first apartment. Gold’s Gym became my home. It was like a family to me," Schwarzenegger opened up at the time, as reported by Club Industry.

He added: "At the time, physical fitness wasn’t mainstream, but look at what we have accomplished in these 50 years. Now everyone is working out. Remember that you all are a part of the fitness crusade that we started 50 years ago."
