It's fair to say that Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus are the cutest celebrity couple right now - not least because they've been relatively private about their marriage. Inevitably, this has only made fans all the more desperate to learn more about their relationship, and people have been starving for whatever scraps they can find about what Miley and Liam's marriage is really like.

Most crucial of all the big fan questions is this: what made Liam finally decide to tie and knot and spend the rest of his life with Miley? Did a single event change his mind or was it actually an accumulation of little things? The couple first met back in 2009 on the set of the Nicholas Sparks’ movie, The Last Song. Now, almost a decade later, Liam has opened up about what made him decide to get down on one knee and ask Miley to marry him.

In an emotional interview with Willie Geis on the morning news and talk program Sunday Today, Liam stated: "I feel really happy, and really fortunate to be with such a great person. We've been through so much together over the last ten years, so it felt like it was time ... I think I've been fake married about 9,000 times before my actual real marriage ... We just try to keep as much of it private as we can. There's a lot of things we can't control, obviously." Liam added that the loss of the couple's home to the Californian wildfires also brought them closer together, and helped motivate him to ask for Miley's hand. Aww!

Liam also divulged that he almost didn't land the part of Will Blakelee in the 2010 coming-of-age teen drama, stating:  That was the first job I got [in the U.S.], and it was literally right at the end of my three-month visa. They cast another kid, and it didn’t work out with him. My agent calls me like, whispering, like ‘You’ve got to go to Disney right now. It’s not working out with the other guy. You’ve got to go in and read with Miley again' ... I come in and everyone starts clapping like, ‘We should have gone with you first!'"

In an earlier interview news reporters, while attending the G'Day USA Gala event in Los Angeles event, Liam confessed that he was very much enjoying married life and loved his wedding, stating: "It was great, it was just a really nice, beautiful day with our immediate family and a couple of close friends. It's wonderful, we've been together for the better part of ten years so it doesn't feel like a lot's changed on one hand ... It's all great, I'm loving it!"

Wow; they really are embodying couple goals, right?
