Cameron Diaz is one of the most recognisable women on the planet. The actress, who has starred in the likes of Charlie's Angels, There's Something About Mary and The Mask, is widely regarded as one of the most successful female actresses of all time and has often scored pretty highly in "Sexiest Woman In The World" charts. But, while her career may have seen her rake in an estimated $140 million, it appears that Diaz is ready to throw in the towel when it comes to the world of film.

Diaz has been on hiatus since she starred in Annie in 2014, where she starred as Miss Hannigan. The film and her portrayal got mixed reviews and since then, the actress seems to have been enjoying her marriage and her money.

Diaz, 45, is married to Good Charlotte member Benji Madden, 39. And, according to her friend Selma Blair, Diaz has said that she is "done" with the film industry and has no plans to return to the screen.

Speaking at the Oscar's Vanity Fair party, Selma said:

"I had lunch with Cameron the other day, we were reminiscing. Cameron's retired from acting, she's like 'I'm done.'"

"I mean, she doesn't need to make any more films, she has a pretty great life, I don't know what it would take to bring her back.'"

An insider said that, while Diaz hasn't formally announced her retirement, she is not interested in new film scripts.

"Cameron is constantly inundated with film scripts trying to tempt her out of retirement but she’s just not interested.

"She’s happy, in love and wants to make the most of her freedom and free time."

Diaz met Madden back in 2014 after they were introduced by Nicole Richie. The duo married seven months later in an intimate ceremony at her Beverly Hills home in January 2015.

According to various reports, the actress was more interested in starting a family than continuing her career.

"Cameron hasn’t wanted to work," a source said. "She is enjoying being at home and being a housewife, she would love more than anything to be a mom."

"At this point, they would be very happy with the miracle of one child," the source added.

Diaz has spoken about how "nothing else matters" now she's met her husband. In an interview with Andy Cohen in 2016, she said:

"It was one of those things where everyone tells you, 'You just know when you know'.

"I was like, 'What does that mean?' Oh, I get it. You just know when you know. Like you're my husband.

"The first thing I said when I first met my husband was, 'he's hot.' How come I didn't know this before? We had never been in the same circle…

"You know, nothing matters now that I have my husband. Like, I don't even remember any of that.

"No one compares. Everything else just like washes and slips away. You realise like, 'Oh this is like the real thing is. This is what real love is. This is what real commitment and devotion is. This is the person you build your life with.'"

So it looks like we've seen the end of Diaz on our screens. At least she knows that if she ever fancies dipping back into the world of film, she'd be inundated with offers.
