In case you missed it this week, the world has realized that Ben Affleck has an absolutely massive tattoo on his back and no one really knows what to think of it. Well, they do know what to think, because everyone agrees that it's absolutely awful - with one person summing it up perfectly on Twitter:

"Ben Affleck's back tattoo is, and I'm saying this without hyperbole, one of the funniest goddamn things I've ever seen in my entire life. Holy moly. What a wonderful gift to all of us this is. Truly a great day to be alive because of this obscenely dumb tattoo".

And, as it turns out, plenty of people agreed.

While Ben Affleck has had quite a comeback in recent times, the re-emergence of his tattoo has led to him becoming a laughing stock once more. He impressed a lot of people with his roles in Good Will Hunting and Shakespeare In Love - not to mention that he also helped Bruce Willis save the world from a giant asteroid in Armageddon. But, after starring in the horrific rom-com flop that was Gigli, as well as the superhero franchise Daredevil, Affleck found himself as the butt of a national joke.

But, now, much like the Phoenix on is back, he has risen from the ashes to come back as a talented director with the Oscar-winning Argo - and he's the new Batman.

But while Batman may be the epitome of cool, Affleck's tattoo couldn't be lamer. The Phoenix covers his back from shoulder to shoulder. And, although he got the tat a couple years ago - meaning it isn't exactly new - he had previously lied about it.

In a 2016 interview with Extra, he said it was "fake for a movie." But unfortunately for Ben, somebody spotted him at the beach sporting the tattoo and he has been rightly mocked for it.

It's not just the public that has taken shots at the actor, with his fellow famous friends also ripping him.

Matt Damon, Ben Affleck's BFF, appeared on The Daily Show last night, and Trevor Noah had one topic that he just had to ask him about: the tattoo.

"I don't believe a friend would allow a friend to get a back tattoo of a colorful dragon," Trevor joked. "Have you seen this tattoo?"

"Of course, yeah, yeah, yeah..." Matt said, appearing to struggle to find the words to describe the monstrosity.

"I mean, uh, it's not — it's not one man's job to tell another man what he can do to his back."

"I... I — you know — I support him in all of his... artistic expression," he concluded - adding in a giggle for good measure.

Not only had Damon laughed at the back tatt, but Affleck's exes have also expressed their displeasure at it. On Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen asked J-Lo what she thought about it. "It’s awful! What are you doing?" exclaimed the singer. "His tattoos always have too many colors, they shouldn’t be so colorful. They should be cooler."

Not only this, but in an interview with Vanity Fair, Jennifer Garner said:

"You know what we would say in my hometown about that? ‘Bless his heart.’ A phoenix rising from the ashes. Am I the ashes in this scenario? I take umbrage. I refuse to be the ashes."

Poor old Ben. Still, as long as he likes the tattoo, that all that matters.
