The announcement couldn't have been anymore apropos to celebrity norms, with the couple issuing their statement onto Tatum's Instagram and spouting the usual spiel about how they still love each other but that they are being taken down different paths.

"We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple," the statement read.

"We feel deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now.

"There are no secrets nor salacious events at the foot of our decision - just two best-friends realizing it's time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives possible."

Despite their claim that there was nothing untoward happening in their relationship, the press still had a field day with the rumours. According to several reports, it was Tatum's drinking and flirtatious habits that led to the couple parting ways.

However, in order to shut down the claims, the actor's team have spoken out.

"The media is fabricating stories and none of these accusations are remotely true," a rep for Channing told E! News, "Channing and Jenna released an honest and loving statement which is the only truth."

This comment comes after a rep from Jenna's team released a statement saying, "Happy to clarify that absolutely none of these rumors are true. The reason our statement was so positive [was] because that’s the reality of the situation."
