What do Chris Evans and Ryan Reynolds have in common? Well, they're both blessed with striking good looks, and have starred in a slew of Marvel blockbusters - but aside from these laudable achievements, it's evident that they are nice guys to boot.

Yes, the bona fide heartthrobs proved that they were real-life superheroes this week when they did everything possible to grant a dying boy his last wish.

The actors, who play Deadpool and Captain American in Marvel's Avengers universe, volunteered to meet with a dying child after a request on Twitter went viral.

Fox News personality, Shannon Bream, took to social media in the hope of connecting the child with one of the Marvel actors. "Need your help Twitterverse," the 47-year-old wrote. "Tying to help a young boy who is dying. He probably has just days and all he want is a greeting from one of the Avengers. If you have a celeb connection, please let me know. Otherwise, could you help out with a RT? Thank you in advance!"

The post was retweeted over 10,000 times, and numerous Twitter users started tagging actors from the franchise to help increase the chances of making the dream of Emilio - a huge Marvel fan - come true.

Just five hours later, Captain America's real-life counterpart, Chris Evans, caught wind of the situation. "Happy to! DM me," he tweeted in response.

And then Ryan Reynolds pledged his support to the cause, writing "I’m more of a 'Reserve Avenger'. But happy to help. DM me."

Naturally, the people of the internet were overjoyed at Evans and Reynolds's generosity. "You are an exceptional man, Chris Evans," one Twitter user wrote, while another corroborated: "You are more superhero than any you play on screen. Much respect."

A third individual replied to Reynolds's tweet, saying "It’s no surprise that you step up to help a terminal child with a request that will make him smile. You are no avenger. You are a real man with heart and true character. Thank you."
