Dakota Johnson's father has his say on her blossoming romance with Coldplay's Chris Martin
In the world of celebrity dating, it's pretty difficult to keep things under wraps. In fact, when it comes to any aspect of their lives, it's hard for the Hollywood elite to have an ounce of privacy. Whether it's Kylie Jenner trying to keep her impending 'pregnancy' from the press, or Brad Pitt trying to keep his private affairs to himself, the truth tends to come out eventually.
The same goes for Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin. The pair has been rumoured to be dating for a while now and even though they haven't confirmed it themselves, all pointers point towards a potential romance being on the cards.
According to one insider, the Fifty Shades of Grey actress and Coldplay frontman are "definitely dating."
"They’ve gotten to know each other really well and are very comfortable [with] one another. Chris sends Dakota his music to get her opinion. It’s more than just a fling," they said.
The duo were previously spotted enjoying a meal at a sushi restaurant in Los Angeles, where it was reported that "they seemed very happy to see each other and immediately jumped into conversation." Apparently, they "were flirty and laughing the entire meal".
Dakota, 28, and Chris, 40, have already spent time abroad together, with the rumoured-lovers being spotted at a Nick Cave concert in Israel late last year. Although they didn't engage in any public displays of affection, plenty of eyewitnesses reported them being "really, really nice."
Dakota isn't the first actress that Chris has been linked with since his "conscious uncoupling" from Gwenyth Paltrow in 2014. He was previously rumoured to be dating Jennifer Lawrence and Peaky Blinders star Annabelle Wallis.
But while the pair may have remained coy about the hearsay, Dakota's dad, Don, has weighed in with his opinion on the matter.
Appearing on the red carpet of last night's National Television Awards in the UK, the actor soon got talking about Hollywood and, more importantly, about his daughter. Speaking at the ceremony, Don not only appeared to confirm that his daughter was dating Chris Martin, but he also gave his opinion on the whole situation.
"Yeah, that's... uh troubling, isn't it? No, she's a big girl, she can handle herself!"
Don was also keen to talk about the #MeToo and #TimesUp campaigns against sexual misconduct in Hollywood, saying it was "about time" something like this happened.
"I'm a big supporter and not just with the sexual abuse, but equal pay. These are really important issues that have been a long time coming to the surface and I for one am very happy that they're here."
He added: "And, y'know, it's gonna take some time to sort through everything and find the right balance with everything, but at least the conversation is going."
So it looks like Chris and Dakota are official. I guess the Coldplay frontman is a better bet than Christian Grey at least. Now, what will their celeb couple name be? Cokota? Dris? LuDakris? Who knows.
