It's easy to assume that celebrities in the spotlight, who are often looking on top form in movies, TV, or their Instagram page, have an easier time with fitness than we do. But as Drew Barrymore explained recently, this isn't always the case.

Last Friday she updated her followers on her journey, revealing that she had lost 25 lbs over just three months. The 43-year-old mother-of-two also shared a series of photos that illustrated her progress, and the difference between the before and after is remarkable.

“When I look at Instagram, I am made to think I should be at my best self. But most days, I lack consistency due to real life,” she wrote. “Here is me in a before pose and then 25 pounds later in the same place. You can tell my face is so much thinner!”

“This takes me so much work. Diet and exercise and fighting like a lion for it! Damn you genetics! And yet thank you for all the good stuff. I love where I come from (JOHN ETHEL LIONEL) and whatever package it comes in.

"I just know that I have the control to be what I want. Even if it is hard AF! At least I know there are experts I can turn to for help. I mean look at what Marnie helped me do in three months!

"When i have time off in 2019...I’m comin for ya! PS may I just say I want to be these ladies on the front page. You are my spirit animals and my goal posts!"

Earlier this year she appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden, where she said that while she's on a strict diet during the filming of her horror-comedy series The Santa Clarita Diet, she relaxes the rest of the time. “Let’s face it, I hate it,” she said. “I would much rather eat fettuccine alfredo all day long.”

“When I first started the show, I was 145 lbs. and my life was kind of falling apart. And I said, ‘Victor [the show’s executive producer], can I lose 20 lbs. over the course of the show, and change my eyebrows and the height of my shoes and the body language and attitude and go from someone who’s kind of naive and unhappy to someone who’s empowered and alive?’ And he said yes, and so I got to make that transformation.

“When I’m doing the show I’m a vegan and I barely eat anything, and I work out every day, and it’s so healthy. It gets to be euphoric, and then it’s like food poisoning, you feel like you’ll never eat again, and then before you know it you’re pigging out with the feed bag strapped to your face. And I’m a foodie, and love food and I travel the world for food, so I get heavy again between the show.”

Maybe we should all take some advice from Barrymore and relax a little with our diets. As long as we're happy with the body we've got, that's what counts!
