Eddie Murphy's girlfriend confirms she is pregnant with the star's tenth child
If you're from the older generation, you probably know Eddie Murphy best from Trading Places, Coming To America and Beverly Hills Cop. If you're from the younger generation, you probably know Eddie Murphy best from The Nutty Professor, Daddy Day Care or Shrek. But no matter how you know Eddie Murphy, I bet you're surprised to hear he's about to have ten kids!
Now, that number doesn't sound totally crazy to me. On my dad's side of the family, my grandpa and grandma had ten kids. However, they also ran a farm, and I'm pretty sure they just kept having kids for free labor to do all the chores. As far as I know, Eddie Murphy does not have a farm. But at 57 years old, he's from a similar generation. Big families. That's just how they roll!
Okay, so, if you're keeping track, and I know you are, Eddie has five children with ex-wife Nicole Mitchelle: Bria (28), Myles (25), Shayne, (23), Zola (18), and Bella (16). He has one son, Eric (29), with ex-girlfriend Paulette McNeely. He has one son, Christian (27), with ex-girlfriend Tamara Hood. He has one daughter, Angel (11), with ex-girlfriend Melanie Brown, aka Mel B from the Spice Girls.
And finally, Eddie has one daughter, Izzy (2), with his current flame, Paige Butcher, a 39-year-old Australian model and actress. Their upcoming bundle of joy will be number ten. That's enough for two basketball teams!
Eddie and Paige have been dating since 2012. The paparazzi snapped photos of her baby bump as she walked around LA, and her representative confirmed the news to Entertainment Tonight: "Eddie Murphy and longtime girlfriend Paige Butcher are pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child in December."
In an interview with ET in 2016, Eddie joked about becoming an aging father. "None of my children are gray and balding," said the comedy legend. "It’s just pretty natural. It’s a natural thing... The brightest part of my life is my kids. My relationship with them, and my world revolves around them - even the old, gray bald ones."
Will Eddie Murphy ever make a comeback? Shrek fans might not realize that he was one of the biggest stand-up comedy acts of the 80's, influencing Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock and Kevin Hart. In recent interviews, Eddie expressed curiosity in doing stand-up again. But so far, nope.
Nor has Eddie returned to host Saturday Night Live. In the 80's, he joined the cast as a teenager, and single handedly saved it from cancellation. Then he got in a feud with another cast member that led to a 30-year-boycott. In 2015, he squashed the beef, making an awkward appearance at SNL's 40th anniversary special. Since then, nothing.
Eddie's movie career also appears to have stalled. Beverly Hills Cop 4 is stuck in development, and there has been no announcement of a Shrek 5. Oh well. The guy's busy. He's got ten kids!
