Marshall Bruce Mathers Jr, the biological father of the rapper Eminem, has reportedly died of a heart attack at the age of 67 near Fort Wayne, Indiana, per TMZ.

Marshall Bruce Mathers (aka Eminem) never met the father with whom he shared a name, as he had been estranged from the rapper's mother for many years after marrying her when she was 15 and he was 22.

Despite their lack of a proper relationship, Eminem often referenced his estranged parent in his songs, such as My Name Is and Cleanin’ Out My Closet.

There was a period where the rapper reportedly attempted to write to his dad, according to TMZ. But it's said the letters always came back as return to sender. Eminem subsequently appeared to be jaded about the possibility of reconciliation, stating in a later interview that he didn't know anything about him, and what's more, he didn't care.

However, his father did appear to want to bury the hatchet back in 2001 - even claiming to British tabloids that Eminem's mother had kept his son from him. He told the Mirror: "I desperately want to meet my son and tell him that I love him. I’m not interested in his money. I just want to talk to him. I want him to know that I’m here for him if he lets me back into his life," and later tried to reach out to his son via a letter posted in a newspaper.
