Gisele posts intimate photo tribute of husband Tom Brady crying after Super Bowl loss
Yesterday was The Super Bowl, one of the biggest ball-throwing events of the year. It seemed like everyone was rooting for the New England Patriots to lose, since they had already won The Super Bowl like ninety times. And the Philadelphia Eagles - or, as they say in Philly, "Iggles" - had never won. The last time they made it to the Super Bowl was 1960. I mean, who doesn't like an underdog? It was neck-and-neck for a while, but the Eagles pulled it off in the end, defeating the Patriots 44-31. (I caught the end of it at a bar in Los Angeles. Everyone was insanely happy, and they played the Rocky theme to celebrate.)
Philadelphia Eagles fans were so thrilled by the victory they burned down their whole city. However, Patriots fans did not think the outcome was "wicked pissa." It was a rough night for the players, who finally discovered what it feels like to lose. But it was especially rough for quarterback Tom Brady. He recently made the news for kissing his 11-year-old son on the lips for an uncomfortable amount of time, and then people roasted him for dressing in an outfit similar to Melania Trump. A bright, shiny Super Bowl ring would be a pleasant distraction.
Luckily, Tom has a wife to console him - Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen. This morning she shared an intimate photo on Instagram, in which she hugs her emotional husband after the Patriot's crushing defeat. The photo has received over a million likes, from people who appreciate the couple's sweet moment, and people who feel major schadenfreude from Tom Brady's sadness. (Wonder why Gisele's wavy hair looks so amazing? It's from his tears.)
It turns out Gisele's a pretty good sport (no pun intended). In the caption, she writes, "Congratulations Eagles for winning the Super bowl, what a game that was! Congratulations Patriots for giving your best and to my love, we are incredibly proud of you because we are able to see ever day all the commitment, sacrifice and hard work that you have devoted to become the best in what you do. We love you!"
It was also an emotional night for their three kids. After the game, two of them crying (and not just because they were in Minnesota in the winter). In an interview with USA Today, Gisele reveals how she explained the loss. Her five-year-old daughter exclaimed, "The Eagles won the Super Bowl!" And she replied, "Just this time. Daddy won five times. They never won before. Their whole life, they never won a Super Bowl. You have to let someone else win sometimes." Well, that's a nice way of putting it! Sounds a lot better than "Your dad's a failure."
Hey, cheer up Tom Brady. You have five Super Bowl rings and a pretty awesome wife. (Also, if you cry too much, your football makeup will run.)
