If there is one person you might be a little wary about judging your child's cooking skills, it would most likely be Gordon Ramsay. The renowned TV chef may have an impressive 16 Michelin stars under his belt, but he also quite famously has no qualms about dishing out the harshest of one-liners and insults.

And yet, Ramsay returns once more to critique a range of dishes made by the young contestants aged between 8 and 13 on MasterChef Junior, along with Christina Tosi and Aarón Sanchez.

Season seven of the Fox series will see the kids battle it out for a chance of becoming the reigning MasterChef Junior champion.

The new season kicked off last night and viewers were treated to a very delicious spectacle involving the notoriously passionate restauranteur - Ramsay, that is - and his fellow judges.

This is the moment an unamused Gordon Ramsay was turned into a human banana split:

Proving revenge is actually a dish best served sweet, the children were able to give the intimidating chef a taste of his own medicine.

Standing between two giant "bananas", the three judges were essentially turned into the filling for a giant banana split.

They were squirted with chocolate sauce and whipped cream, and sprinkled with a host of toppings - basically, anything that would be used as a filling for an ordinary banana split. In fact, as you'll see from the video, the kids did not have any mercy on the judges, who were left absolutely drenched.

The season premiere saw plenty of engagement on Twitter as viewers shared their thoughts on the young contestants:

Luckily for those of us who love to hate the foul-mouthed chef, there have been numerous other occasions on which Ramsay has gotten his comeuppance.

This is the moment Ramsay's pad thai was slated by a successful Thai chef:

There's something about seeing Ramsay being on the receiving end of criticism that really is so darn satisfying.
