Towards the end of last year, Hailey Baldwin tied the knot with Justin Bieber in a secret ceremony in New York. The pair had been dating on and off for a few years beforehand, but only announced their engagement in July 2018.

"Was gonna wait a while to say anything but word travels fast, listen plain and simple Hailey I am soooo in love with everything about you!" Bieber wrote on Instagram when he made the engagement announcement. "So committed to spending my life getting to know every single part of you loving you patiently and kindLY [sic]."

Despite their social media feeds being full of nothing but happiness and smiles, Hailey says that marriage is no walk in the park, and - actually - she finds it pretty "scary".

"It's definitely scary to be this young and be married, it's a scary thing," the model said while talking on Zaza World Radio. "But it's also the person that I've literally been in love with for so many years, so that's the best part about it. I feel like he's my best friend and we just get to do life together forever now."

And this isn't the first time that Hailey has expressed apprehension about getting married so young.

"We’re really young, and that’s a scary aspect," she told Vogue earlier this month. "We’re going to change a lot. But we’re committed to growing together and supporting each other in those changes. That’s how I look at it. At the end of the day, too, he’s my best friend. I never get sick of him."

What was perhaps even more of a revelation, however, was that Hailey had never been in a serious relationship before hooking up with the Love Yourself artist. "I've always been so independent, so for me, trying to cohabitate with someone and learn how to do life with another person, that directly has just been interesting. It's so different," she said.

Her friendship with Bieber actually goes way back, though, and she stuck by him (and supported him) during his on/off relationship with Selena Gomez. The rumours about them hooking up during this time were constantly flying around, but it took until January 2018 for them to finally admit that they were dating.

According to Bieber, though, the two never slept together until they had tied the knot, citing religious beliefs as the reason for their celibacy.

"God doesn’t ask us not to have sex for him because he wants rules and stuff," the singer explained. "He’s like, I’m trying to protect you from hurt and pain. I think sex can cause a lot of pain. Sometimes people have sex because they don’t feel good enough. Because they lack self-worth. Women do that, and guys do that."

He continued: "I wanted to rededicate myself to God in that way because I really felt it was better for the condition of my soul. And I believe that God blessed me with Hailey as a result. There are perks. You get rewarded for good behavior. When I saw her last June, I just forgot how much I loved her and how much I missed her and how much of a positive impact she made on my life. I was like, 'Holy cow, this is what I’ve been looking for."

As young and scared as she may be, then, it seems that Hailey is actually being pretty mature about this whole marriage thing - and that's the key to making sure things work out.
