Last weekend, the several A-listers turned out in force to one of the most seismic events in recent times. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot in a stunning ceremony at St. George's Chapel that was watched by people all over the world.

The likes of Tom Hardy, Oprah Winfrey, Serena Williams, David Beckham and George and Amal Clooney showed up at the wedding, which went ahead in the glorious - if not slightly rare - British sunshine. And, while the majority of the guests looked delighted to be there, with Serena looking particularly emotional at certain periods - the same cannot be said for James Corden.

Corden, who has risen to fame in America through his Late Late Show, was pictured looking particularly solemn in the chapel while the ceremony took place. However, addressing the photo of him looking miserable that went viral online, the host offered up an excuse for his sombre expression.

He said: "Here's the thing, the worst part of the ceremony for me was there was flowers everywhere, the most beautiful flowers you've ever seen.

"I get quite bad allergies if I'm in close proximity to flowers so for a lot of the ceremony I just needed to sneeze."

He continued: "Right at the point when the Archbishop was saying, 'If anyone knows of any reason that these two should not be married...' I was thinking 'Please don't sneeze', and I had to do one of those internal sneezes. "

"I think I got away with it."

Despite suffering through the ceremony, Corden - who is believed to have been a compere at the after party - gushed praise on the event, saying that it was Britain at its finest.

“It was so lovely. I’ve known Prince Harry about seven years now and it was wonderful,” the TV personality said.

“It was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I’ve ever been to. It was gorgeous, it was a whole affair, it was happy, it was joyous, it was uplifting.

"It was Britain at its finest, a picture perfect day, Windsor Castle, 600 guests, 30,000 flowers - or as Elton John calls it, a Thursday. He was there, he performed some songs in the afternoon which was wonderful."

As mentioned, Corden wasn't the only famous face at the event and the host couldn't help but aim a joke at George Clooney.

Corden said: "George Clooney was there so congratulations, Meghan and Harry, on your brand new Nespresso machine - I imagine that's what he got him."

Priyanka Chopra was also at the event and posted a touching tribute to her dear friend Meghan and the couple:

"Every once in a while there is a moment when time stands still.. that happened today," she wrote;

"You my friend.. were the epitome of grace, love and beauty. Every choice made at this wedding by you both will go down in history, not just because it was your wedding but because this incredible wedding stood for change and hope. Both things that the world needs desperately.

"Thank you for being the perfect picture of all things good.. seeing your union and love blessed in front of my eyes Made me so happy.. and tear up."

It would be safe to say the Meghan and Harry have firmly cemented themselves as everyone's favorite couple. Let's hope that the Royals continue on this new path into the 21st century - we all know they needed it.
