Kathleen Turner, a woman who is instantly recognisable only from her voice - something that is equal parts smoke and sex - has opened up to Vulture about her turbulent career, and also disclosed some previously well-kept industry secrets.

The actress, who found fame after starring in 80's films such as Body Heat and Romancing the Stone, gave an interview which has since been lauded in the press for being refreshingly candid. In the feature, Turner touched on everything from how Michael Douglas, Warren Beatty, and Jack Nicholson were all in on a competition to sleep with her first to why Elizabeth Taylor's acting chops hit such a nerve with her.

Much of the chatter on the internet, however, has been centred around the identity of a "very famous Hollywood actress" who has vexed Turner for the last 20 years.

In a post #MeToo world, Turner's comments on her relationship with sexism and "rage" were particularly poignant. When asked by journalist, David Marchese, about what had helped further her career aside from luck, the actress responded with "rage".

"I'm f*ckin' angry, man" about "everything", she said. When pressed on where her anger comes from, she said "injustice in the world". Marchese then quizzed her about whether this stemmed from her career being prematurely derailed by illness, to which Turner responded "I suppose there was a feeling of loss. Rheumatoid arthritis hit in my late 30s - the last of my years in which Hollywood would consider me a sexually appealing leading lady."

"The hardest part was that so much of my confidence was based on my physicality. If I didn't have that, who was I?"

Further elaborating on her experience of being a woman in the entertainment industry, and the double-standard that they so often face, she addressed rumours that she was difficult to work with on set: "If a man comes on set and says, 'Here's how I see this being done,' people go 'He's decisive'. If a woman does it, they say, 'Oh [expletive], there she goes.'"

The majority of the attention, however, has been focused on the unnamed actress who Turner took aim at during the interview. "I'll give you an example, but you mustn’t include her name", she told Marchese, who duly kept his end of the bargain. "[Very famous Hollywood actress] has played the same role for 20 years. She even looks pretty much the same. She’s probably one of the richest women out there, but I would shoot myself if I were like that, only giving people what they expect," Turner asserted.

The mystery of the unidentified actress has made its way to Twitter, where users have been fervently speculating about whether it could be Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock, Reese Witherspoon, or even Jennifer Aniston.

However, it wasn't all bad. When asked about which actors she admired right now, Turned replied "On the whole, I’m very ignorant, but I like Emma Stone. And the stage actress Nina Arianda is incredible. She’s got the power, babe."
