As the world deals with the royal wedding hangover, we're all starting to dissect the ins and outs of the big day. Whether it's questioning why Meghan's mom was sat on her own, looking out for celebrities in the chapel or simply dissecting the choice of outfits on the day, there was a lot to take in and even more to mull over once the ceremony had concluded.

One of the biggest topics of conversation was Meghan's choice of dress. The former Suits actress wore a Givenchy dress which was designed by Clare Waight Keller - the first female director of Givenchy. The two met last year and Meghan chose Ms Keller due to her "elegant aesthetic" and "relaxed demeanour."

Caroline Arthur, a luxury wedding dress designer, described the dress thus: "The neckline is beautifully cut and then there are two things happening with the seams. At the front, the shaping of the dress begins just at the bust point and continues all the way down into seams on the skirt.

"I'd describe the skirt shape as a tulip, so it's not exactly fitted on the hips, but it's slightly closer on the hips down to midway between your hip and your knee and at that point, it then flares out.

"If you look at the back of the dress the seamlines are absolutely beautiful, you always need darting or a vertical seam at the back of the dress in order to get it to fit really nicely."

However, while Ms Arthur may have thought that it was a perfect fit, Katy Perry wasn't too sure. The "California Girls" hitmaker weighed in on the debate surrounding Meghan's dress, saying that she wasn't the biggest fan of the gown.

“I would have done one more fitting,” Perry said of Markle’s stunning Givenchy gown. “I’m never not going to tell the truth! One more fitting, but I love you.”

Despite her indifference towards the dress, Perry said that she was happy for the couple and reserved a lot of her praise for Meghan herself.

“I’m so happy for them, and, you know, I don’t know them from Adam, but it’s amazing what she’s doing with all this, her humanitarian efforts," she said. "You know, the fact that she’s a proud feminist, I love all that. I support her as another woman and love her and wish them both well.”

Lionel Richie, Katy's fellow judge on American Idol, also wished the couple well - saying that Princess Diana would be proud of the men her sons have become.

"I remember when [Princess Diana] had them, Lady Di, and it was amazing. Now to see them both married and kids, well not yet, but married,” Richie told ET, referring to Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William. “She would be very proud. I must tell you, I mean, it’s a moment in time, but I’m glad to see they’re moving on as young men now, as family men. I love that."

While Katy Perry may not have been a fan of the dress, I think we can all agree that Meghan looked stunning on her big day. We wish her all the best in her new life as a royal.
