Getting married is one of the biggest moments that many of us will endure in our lives. Your nuptials are supposed to be the happiest day of your life and, for this reason, you would want to make sure that everything is as it should be. For some, this would be a traditional wedding in a church, with a white dress and all the family together for the occasion. For others, it may be a more low-key affair. But, whatever way you choose to go when it comes to your nuptials, you don't really want it to be an accident.

We've all heard the horror stories and seen the episodes of sitcoms when two people tie the knot during a drunken night in Las Vegas or another sinful part of Earth. However, while the majority of these stories are often substance-fuelled mistakes, the same cannot be said for the following 'wife and husband' duo.

According to Wynona Ryder, there's a possibility that she and Keanu Reeves may have been married for over a decade. Yes, between him wearing a leather overcoat and shooting bad people and her using Christmas lights to talk to monsters, the pair found time to tie the knot while filming a movie.

“We actually got married in Dracula,” the 46-year-old actress told Entertainment Weekly while the promoting their upcoming film Destination Wedding.

“No, I swear to God, I think we’re married in real life,” she said, revealing that during the production of the 1992 film, director Francis Ford Coppola “used a real Romanian priest” to preside over their wedding ceremony, which they filmed from beginning to end.

“We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So I think we’re married,” claimed Winona.

Despite the fact that your wedding day is meant to be a special, heart-warming affair, Reeves, 53, didn't seem to remember the ceremony quite as well as Winona did.

“Don’t you remember that? It was Valentine’s Day,” she replied, before Reeves eventually conceded, “Oh my gosh, we’re married.”

The duo star in Destination Wedding, a film where their characters meet on the way to a destination wedding and realise that they have a shared interest: neither of them wants to go. Despite the fact that they don't get on with each other at first, the socially awkward and pessimistic duo end up falling in love with each other throughout the course of the weekend.

It's not the first time that they have starred in a film together, in addition to both being in Dracula, the two stars have also appeared in 2006’s A Scanner Darkly and 2009’s The Private Lives of Pippa Lee.

“Winona is a lovely person and a talented actress,” Reeves previously told PEOPLE. “I think we make a good couple, and I liked that it’s a two-hander. To them, nobody else matters anyway, right? We did something like five eight-minute scenes, which you don’t often get a chance to do in films.”

Destination Wedding arrives in theatres on Aug 31.
