One of the very worst things about the internet is the people on it who think it's their right to tell others how to raise their children.

Kim Kardashian is well aware of such culprits, and seems to have employed a 'defend parenting before it's attacked' technique on her social media platforms.

But, unfortunately for the reality TV star, this didn't work so well for her recently when she posted a picture of herself and two of her children.

The 37-year-old was away in Africa, with her husband Kanye West and their oldest daughter North West when she uploaded an image of her, Chicago and Saint walking down a street together on Instagram.

Making it clear that she was finding it tough being away from two of her little ones, she posted: "Missing my babies!!!!!"

Then, in an effort to ward off mum shamers lurking in the shadows of the site, she added "P.S. mom shammers it’s not a pacifier, he’s eating candy!" in a reference to the object Saint had in his mouth.

However, the move backfired in a number of wild and unimaginable ways...

Firstly, there were the people who hadn't read the caption and immediately jumped to slam the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star. "Your son is too old to have a pacifier in his mouth," wrote one.

Next up, there were the social media users who felt it was their place to let the 37-year-old mother know that candy isn't good for children either. "Even worse; you are feeding him artificial colours, flavours, preservatives & sugar," commented one mum shamer. They were joined by another who wrote: "'He’s eating candy!' As if that’s any better ??".

Then, there were those who were keen to shame her for Chicago's lack of footwear. "Why is baby barefoot. It's cold!" cried a mummy shamer.

Following that, were those who took aim at the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star for letting her kid walk and eat candy at the same time, with one person writing: "Walking with sweets in his mouth ??".

Subsequently, people who felt like dissecting the relationship between Kim's children entered the playing field.

Then, to round things off, the shaming savages came for Kim's spelling. The mum-of-three had misspelt "shamers" in her caption, and the people of the internet were keen to let her know. "What’s a shammer? You mean shamer?" sneered one person.

"Money doesn't buy everything girl u can't even spell correctly ???? sad!" sniggered another.

Thankfully, among all of these vicious mum shamers, there were some good people still left in the world to jump in and defend Kim.

"Who the hell said Kim is letting Saint have a Ring Pop all the time? She does care about her children's health, so why do you bother so much? Last time I checked, Saint and North aren't your children," commented one person, while another advised the reality TV star to ignore the "haters".

So folks, welcome to a day in the life of a famous person. Moral of the story: Sure, Kim has her flaws, but mum shamers, you have to cool it.
