Kim Kardashian and Kanye West welcome their baby from surrogate mother

Kim Kardashian has announced that she and Kanye West have welcomed their newest addition to the family via a surrogate. After months of speculation regarding numerous pregnancies in the family, the first of the expected children arrived at 12:47am on January 15, 2018, weighing in at 7lbs 6oz.

Unlike her two sisters, Khloe and Kylie, Kim has been fairly open about the pregnancy, with her being happy to explain that she is having the child via a surrogate, as well as revealing the sex of the child during an appearance on the Ellen Show.

Taking to her website to announce the arrival of the baby, Kim said that the surrogate gave birth on Monday to a healthy young girl. The post was titled, "She's here!" and featured a subtitle, which read "We're so in love."

Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl. We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care. North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.

Love,

Kim Kardashian West."

Kim's reason for giving birth via a surrogate was due to the complications that she had with her previous two childbirths.

During her first pregnancy with North, the makeup mogul suffered from preeclampsia - a condition which gives the expectant mother high blood pressure and severe headaches. She also struggled with placenta accreta - a condition in which the placenta grows too deeply into the mother’s uterus, becoming inseparable from the uterine wall. After birth, when the placenta is supposed to be expelled from the uterus, it fails to detach - something which can be hugely scary for the mother.

Despite the fact that she wouldn't have to endure the ordeals and pains of giving birth, something which Kim describes "the worst experience of my life," the mother-of-two says that surrogacy is "so much harder" than giving birth naturally.

“Anyone that says or thinks (surrogacy) is just the easy way out is just completely wrong,” she had told Entertainment Tonight.

“Obviously you pick someone that you completely trust and that you have a good bond and relationship with, but it is still ... knowing that I was able to carry my first two babies and not, you know, my baby now, it’s hard for me. So, it’s definitely a harder experience than I anticipated just in the control area.

Despite the difficulties of giving birth via a surrogate, Kim says that she and the surrogate have a great relationship, saying: “I love her. I have the best relationship with my surrogate. She’s so nice,” Kardashian added. “She’s the perfect person to do this for my family.”

Congrats to KimYe on their new arrival! Now, what are we thinking about the name? Given their previous two, it's going to pretty hard to guess.
