The 21-year-old made her catwalk debut on Tuesday at the Gypsy Sport show at New York Fashion Week, where she dazzled in a skimpy bikini top, made of shells and chains. The look was completed with ripped jeans, sunglasses, and giant green feathers worn in Lourdes' hair.

Ultimately, however, it wasn't the fashion that took centre-stage, as people had more to say about the model's choice to flaunt her body hair.

Madonna's eldest daughter flashed unshaven legs through her ripped jeans as she made her first runway appearance at the Gypsy Sport Spring/Summer 2019 show.

Embracing a natural body hair look, Lourdes proudly showed off long dark hairs on her shins, a year after championing her armpit hair in a snap with her mother, Madonna, on New Year's Eve.

The alternative Gypsy Sport show seemed like the perfect opportunity for Lourdes to lend her support to the body positivity movement, which seeks to normalise female body hair. The model has previously been known to bare her armpit hair on multiple occasions.

According to Vogue, Lourdes personally reached out to the show creator, Rio Uribe, and asked to walk in the New York Fashion Week presentation.

While the legendary pop-singer didn't publicly announce that her daughter will be making her NYFW debut on social media, she did post a candid shot to her Instagram Story of Lourdes flicking off the camera.

"Mama’s girl," Madonna captioned the image, which was also shared on Lourdes's personal account.

Though this may be her catwalk debut, it isn't the first time that Lourdes has attended New York Fashion Week. In September 2016, she sat front row alongside her mother at Alexander Wang's Spring/Summer 2017 show, and later made an appearance at the #WangFest afterparty.

Lourdes first started modelling in 2016, when she was the face of Stella McCartney's perfume, Pop. She also featured in Converse's MadeMe collaboration. "I have a lot of people judging my every move," she told Vogue at the time. "It’s important for me to not let it rule my life."

But despite her modelling credentials, Lourdes is currently studying at her mother's alma mater, The University of Michigan.
