Meghan Markle's recent outfit is one of the Queen's biggest fashion pet peeves

Since her royal wedding back in May this year, Meghan Markle has adapted to royal life very well indeed. Despite the drama surrounding her family, Meghan has been handling her royal duties with grace and ease, with her new title of "Duchess of Sussex" befitting her extremely well too.

But the former Suits star hasn't quite let go of her past. Though she's busy learning all the ins and outs of royal tradition, as well as British culture, Meghan has stayed true to her glamorous past with her fashion choices.

Though her wardrobe is paid for by the royals and most likely pre-approved by some kind of PR/style team, Meghan is serving up look-after-look that is launching trends everywhere. Reports state that Meghan's outfits of the past year have inspired people to search for clothes of a similar style, meaning that clothes with boat necklines, trench dresses and strappy heels have been hotly-requested items.

But while the public might love her Duchess-worthy outfits, it seems that her grandmother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, might have another opinion. While she presumably digs Meghan's style like the rest of us, there is one particular sartorial pet peeve that the Queen apparently can't stand... and Meghan happened to be wearing it this week.

Like anyone's grandmother, you'd think the Queen doesn't like ripped jeans, see-through tops or sneakers that are too muddy. But you can bet that none of those things would be found in Meghan's closet nowadays.

No, it was something else entirely.

Prince Harry and Meghan went to the WellChild Awards on Tuesday, an event to honour sick children and their caregivers. It was a jovial affair, where the couple met with children and revealed their favourite Disney movies (Meghan loves the Little Mermaid and Harry's favourite is the Lion King).

But it was Meghan's outfit that sparked another conversation entirely. Meghan wore a black pantsuit, and while it might not look like much of a scandal to you or me (I think she looks bangin', personally!), it's reportedly not something that the Queen is fond of at all.

It's reported that the Queen doesn't like royal women being in suits, and would prefer if they only wore skirts and dresses.

A source told People: "Meghan has found certain rules in the royal household difficult to understand, like the fact that the Queen prefers women in dresses or skirts rather than trouser suits, and is often asking Harry why things have to be done in a certain way."

It's not the first time Meghan has worn a pantsuit either.

But who cares? She's her own woman and frankly, she's rocking it.

And to be fair, the Queen used to wear trousers all the time when she was younger. Even now she wears them from time to time.

Lizzie wore this decidedly more casual look back in August 2010 when she was stepping off a cruise ship in Scotland. So even if she "prefers" royal ladies to stay smart in skirts and dresses, the Queen also knows the virtues of trousers.

You do you, Lizzie, and let Meghan be too.
