Natalie Portman did an impression of her 'Stranger Things' doppleganger on 'SNL' and it's amazing
If we're going to be honest, the Stranger Things kids were the real winners of 2017. Forget the Oscar nominees, the Grammy award winners, and even Beyoncé herself - this year, it was all about Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Max. Not only have their real-life counterparts earned a one-way ticket to superstardom, but their nuanced portrayal of the adventurous children even managed to outshine that of their adult co-stars. Millie Bobby Brown is now walking down runways when she's not on set, and rest of the young actors have secured roles in other productions off the back of the Duffer Brothers' hit series.
Millie Bobby Brown, in particular, has even caught the attention of industry veteran, Natalie Portman, on account of their uncanny resemblance.
It's well known that rising star, Millie Bobby Brown, bears a striking resemblance to a young Natalie Portman. I mean, here's Natalie Portman in the 1994 film, Leon: The Professional, for reference:
And here's Millie Bobby Brown...
Pretty much doppelgängers, right?
While we didn't know for sure that Portman was aware that half the internet is obsessed with how much she and Millie Bobby Brown look alike, it appears that the people of Saturday Night Live most certainly did. In a recent episode of the American television show, producers decided to cast the 36-year-old actress as Eleven in a Stranger Things skit. And as one could expect, Portman - who was hosting the episode - was absolutely dead-on in her impression of Eleven.
In the sketch, "Eleven" meets a bunch of other characters who have similar powers to her, but their abilities are nowhere near as developed or impressive. Watch the entire skit below.
Of course, the people of the internet thought it was the best thing ever. One Twitter user wrote, "Everyone said Millie Bobby brown should play young Natalie Portman. But Natalie Portman was like nah I’m gonna play Millie Bobby Brown," while another added, "This Stranger Things skit is everything right now Millie literally looks like a young Natalie Portman and to see her play 11 is too hilarious."
13-year-old Brown has, to many people's surprise, never trained professionally as an actor. She simply decided at the age of eight that she wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, and her parents promptly relocated her and her siblings from Bournemouth, England, to Orlando, Florida.
Speaking to Variety, Brown explained that "it was like a bug".
"I know this sounds crazy, but once I find something I want to do, nobody’s stopping me. If I don’t know how to sew, and I really had that passion to sew, that’s it, I’m going to sew. That’s also with acting. So here I am," she stated.
And it looks like she's here to stay, too.
