Australian actress Nicole Kidman says her friends make fun of her for her newfound faith, as revealed in a new interview with Vanity Fair.

Featuring in the cover story for May 2019, Kidman, now 51, has shined a light on her inner family life. Kidman divorced Tom Cruise in 2001 and is now married to country singer Keith Urban.

The question of Kidman's faith came up during the interview; in it, she revealed the extent of her relationship with Christianity.

Insisting on attending church with her four children (two from each marriage), Kidman says that she's been teased by her friends for her religious outlook.

"A lot of my friends tease me," she said. "That’s how we are raising our children. Keith has his own beliefs but he comes, too. I had a very Catholic grandmother, and I was raised praying, so that had a massive impact."

She added: "I’m a willful, feisty girl. For me it’s very important that I don’t have judgment. My dad would always say, 'Tolerance is the most important thing."

This isn't the first time the actress has talked extensively about her religious beliefs.

Speaking to Allure last year, Kidman described herself as a "spiritual", saying that if she wasn't an Oscar-winning actress, she might even have been a nun.

"I’m spiritual in that I absolutely believe in God," the 51-year-old said to Allure back in 2018. "I loved the idea of being a nun. Obviously, I did not choose to go that path, but I was very drawn to it."

The Destroyer star has four children; two with Cruise - Isabella Jane who was born in 1992 and Connor Anthony, who was born in 1995 - and 10-year-old Sunday and eight-year-old Faith with Urban. Alongside their churchgoing activities, Nicole also has some pretty conventional parenting practices.

"They don’t have a phone and I don’t allow them to have an Instagram. I try to keep some sort of boundaries," Kidman revealed recently, saying that her parental policies might make her "unpopular" with her daughters.
