It's safe to say that Oprah Winfrey effectively runs our world. The American media proprietor is not only North America's first multi-billionaire black person, but several assessments have ranked her as the most influential woman in the western hemisphere.

But even someone of Oprah's stature has to contend with having Donald Trump as President. The talk show maven has been increasingly outspoken about her disdain for the 45th president of the United States, and his oft contentious stance on matters such as immigration, gun control and foreign policy. She has, however, refused to engage in Trump's insult game.

In the last few months, the former Apprentice star and billionaire property mogul has repeatedly attacked Oprah. In a recent tweet he slammed her for being "very insecure" and dared her to run for President just "so she can be exposed and defeated just like all of the others!"

More recently, during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday night, Donald Trump said that he would "love" to "beat" Oprah, and asserted that he knew "her weakness".

Oprah, of course, has chosen to take the high-road in regards to her unsolicited battle with the US President. When asked by CNN's Van Jones how she would respond to Trump, she simply replied "I wouldn't. I would only speak if I felt that I could be heard".

This is not the first time that Oprah has refused to engage with Donald Trump's bid to get a rise out of her. Speaking to Ellen about Donald Trump's critique of her interviewing skills during a segment of 60 Minutes, she said "I woke up and I just thought…"

"I don't like giving negativity power, so I just thought, 'What?' What I actually really did was I went back and looked at the tape to see if there was any place that that could be true. Did I feel like it was slanted or biased? I went back and looked at every tape; I called the producers."

Oprah's impassioned speech at the Golden Globes earlier this year incited calls for her to run for President against Trump in 2020. However, she has been decidedly tight-lipped about the whole affair. "If God actually wanted me to run, wouldn't God kind of tell me?" she said on 60 Minutes Overtime.

The 64-year-old did offer some advice to potential candidates. "I will say to whoever is going to run for office, do not give your energy to the other side," she stated. "Do not spend all your time talking about your opponents. Do not give your energy to that which you really don’t believe in. Do not spend an ounce of your time on that."

While Donald Trump should know not to mess with someone as beloved and respected as Oprah Winfrey, it's evident that you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

In other news, Trump is set to meet Kim Jong-Un in an unprecedented encounter.
