Paris Jackson robbed by hitchhikers after trying to help them out
As the old adage goes, "no good deed goes unpunished", and that's the lesson that Paris Jackson learnt the hard way this week. While many of us gloat for months about that one time that we channelled our inner Samaritan, Paris Jackson discovered that sometimes you need to keep your wits about you, as others are more than willing to pounce on perceived naivety.
The 19-year-old daughter of the late pop-icon, Michael Jackson, took to her Instagram stories on Friday to vent about how her decision to pick up a group of hitchhikers turned into a nightmare.
American actress, activist and model, Paris Jackson took to Instagram on Friday evening to tell of how she was taken advantage of by a group of hitchhikers that she attempted to help out. Emphasising that she wasn't boasting about being morally superior or anything like that, Jackson said: "So, last night I picked up a couple of hitchhikers and one girl was pretty f***ed up". I mean I remember taking out a pair of my own socks and putting them on her and stopping by a f***ing fast food place to get them dinner.”
She then started to become more and more irate, before exclaiming, "This bitch f***ing stole my debit card dude. I gave you guys a f***ing ride across L.A. and I do my very, very best to be the best Uber driver ever, even though I’m not a part of Uber and you steal my s***, dude? What the f***!"
This is not the first time that Jackson has showcased goodwill. She has used her celebrity influence to highlight causes that are close to her heart and has acted as an ambassador for organisations that she volunteers for, such as Elizabeth Taylor's AIDS foundation. Speaking to People Magazine ahead of her appearance at the Mothers2Mothers and ETAF benefit dinner in October, which she attended with her brother, Prince, Paris stated, "Elizabeth was a real badass. It’s very rare that you see someone with that kind of influence really use their platform for something so important."
And in the same month, she distributed supplies to bereft families in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria ripped through the island, leaving thousands without power, food or clean drinking water. During the trip, Jackson provided a school without any electricity or running water with essentials and donated backpacks and water purifiers.
"I made friends today. Feels good to be with beings of light on that mutual frequency. What incredible little bundles of joy," the 19-year-old captioned an Instagram photo of her in Puerto Rico, reading to a young child.
While Paris should certainly be applauded for her noble intentions, it's clear that she needs to ensure that she's watching her own back too. As well as Samaritans like Paris, this world is jam-packed with people who just love to take advantage of those who are willing to go out on a limb.
In other news, Paris Jackson gave a brief anti-Nazi speech at the VMA Awards.
