Paris Jackson shares a rare and adorable throwback home video to wish her brother 'happy birthday'
Incredibly, Michael Jackson's son, Prince Jackson, turned 21 on Tuesday. In a world of 'feel old yet's' this must surely come quite near the top of the list.
Time, inevitably, marches on, and we must march with it; adapt, change, recognise that things are not the way they once were and probably never will be again.
Indeed, nothing provides a better mark of time passing and our inevitable march toward old age than when our favorite celebrities - shock, horror - age themselves. For some reason, we seem to expect time to stand still for the rich and famous, who, despite their endless disposable income and manic fitness regimens, must too give in to Father Time at some point in their lives.
It has now been nigh on nine years since Michael Jackson's untimely death, a fact hard to believe in itself. Many of us remember the tremor of anticipation that was sweeping through Britain at the news that the 'King of Pop' would be performing a string of gigs in London, the like of which the world had never seen before. Indeed, upon the posthumous release of This Is It, a DVD documentary which chronicled rehearsals for the show, fans were left in no doubt that the live shows would have been among the most astonishing performances in living memory.
One of the many tragedies surrounding Michael Jackson's death was his leaving behind of his three children; Paris, Prince and Michael Jr.
Paris has gone on to become an outspoken activist and model, and is perhaps most notably in the public eye, even though it would have been totally understandable if all three children had chosen to retire from public life completely, given the hounding they received from journalists and paparazzi during their youth.
Paris also appears to be a pretty brilliant sister, if her recent Instagram post wishing brother Prince a happy birthday is anything to go by. Sharing a rare and utterly adorable home video, Paris wrote;
"it’s not your birthday for another half hour but i flew to the east coast today so technically i’m already two and a half hours late! so i’m posting this now.
my dearest brother. i could fly to the moon and back a thousand times and the distance still wouldn’t amount to how much i adore you. i’ve always looked up to you, and to this day you’re still the greatest role model i could ever hope for. i miss these days where we could wrestle and i’d still have a chance at winning, though. i miss playing hot wheels and my little pony with you, i miss fighting like pirates and trying to cast spells with our harry potter wands. i miss the saturdays where we would sleep in and eat porridge and OJ and watch gargoyles and transformers (and sometimes cartoons in arabic?), and staying up late listening to you tell us wild bed time stories that always had a crazy twist at the end. you’ve always been my best friend in the whole wide universe and i’m so lucky to have you in my life. i couldn’t have wished for our friendship to turn out any better. we may not have our water guns and crash bandicoot, but we have so much more. you’re the most fun, genuine, determined and hilarious person i know. and it makes ma soul happy to know dat i can always count on you, and no matter where we are in the world and in life, my home is with you and the little guy. i love you so much, gooko. i’m so proud of you. happy birthday."
Happy birthday, Prince!
