People are kissing their kids on the lips to show support for David Beckham after backlash
There are some internet trolls who like nothing better than criticising the parenting of celebrities. It doesn't matter what famous people post about their families on social media; People will find a way to disparage them. Now, acclaimed footballer David Beckham has provoked outrage after uploading a seemingly-innocent picture to Instagram, showing him leaning down and kissing his seven-year-old daughter Harper on the mouth.
Many irate commenters seemed to find the act obscene and criticised Beckham for apparently acting inappropriately. However, in a heartwarming twist, many other parents on social media have rallied around the footballer and supported him, defending what they see as a harmless display of open affection between daughter and dad. Now a number of other parents have decided to show solidarity with Beckham by posting pictures of themselves giving their kids a smooch while using the hashtag "#standbybeckham." Scroll down to check out some of the cutest examples below:
Beckham received such a disproportionate backlash to the picture, that he was forced to respond to the angry comments in a later Instagram post. He later wrote: "I kiss all my kids on the lips. Brooklyn maybe not. Brooklyn is 18, so he might find that a little strange, but I'm very affectionate with the kids. It's how I was brought up - and Victoria - and it's how we are with our children." He added: "We want to show our kids love and we protect them, look after them and support them. Having children is the most special thing in the world."
Well, maybe some people have a problem with this smooch, but at least David now knows that his fans are still behind him all the way.
