Before Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin, there was Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson - and by that I mean - another couple who proceeded to shack up after a whirlwind romance. Certainly, while 2018 has seen many a carcass of relationships we once labelled "golden", these two engagements have helped prove that love isn't wholly over.
But is everything as peachy as it seems? Pete Davidson recently covered up one of his earliest Ariana Grande tattoos and the pair's fans have, understandably, gone into meltdown.
In the few months that Davidson and Grande have been together, they've both decided to get tattoos to honour their love. Back in June, the SNL cast member got a set of bunny ears along his hairline in a tribute to the pair that Grande wore on her Dangerous Woman album cover.
Now, however, it's been reported that he has had this tattoo covered up. During his performance on Saturday Night Live this past weekend, an audience member screenshotted a picture where it looks like Davidson had covered up the ears with a heart.
Later in the weekend, Davidson was papped with the tattoo, but an "A" had been added next to the new design.
I mean, what is happening here?!
This comes after Davidson's explosive hour-long interview with Howard Stern, where he was criticised for making "tasteless" remarks about his fiancée. "I was jerking off to her before I met her!" Davidson bragged, before saying that he's "never been prouder" than when former President Bill Clinton ogled Grande's bum while she performed at Aretha Franklin's funeral.
He also said that he felt "really bad" for the pastor who appeared to have groped a very uncomfortable looking Grande at the same funeral. "He did a stupid joke, he's a pastor," the 24-year-old said. "He did a sh*tty joke, broadcast it on TV. Sh*tty situation…I feel bad for that guy."
Davidson previously told Jimmy Fallon, "I feel like I won a contest [...] It's so sick. It's fucking lit, Jimmy. It's so lit," prompting fans of the pop-singer to accuse Davidson of talking about her like she's a trophy.
He even went so far as to joke that he had "switched [Grande's] birth control with Tic Tacs" to "make sure she can't go anywhere."
But rest assured, it doesn't seem as if all hope is lost. Grande was backstage at the taping of Saturday Night Live this weekend, and she took to Instagram to post several Stories. In one, she wrote that she loves Pete "Like Kanye loves Kanye", which, as I'm sure you're aware, is a lot.
So is there trouble in paradise? It looks unlikely, and thank god, because I don't know about you, but I just wouldn't be able to cope with another celebrity breakup.
