With the engagement announcement, the fairytale wedding and the honeymoon all behind us, most people are looking to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for a new kind of announcement: the expansion of their family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex only got married in May, but people are already eager to hear if anyone new will be joining their family.

Well... yes! According to People, a source told them that Meghan, 37, and Prince Harry, 33, now own a dog together.

Not much has been said about the new pooch, other than that it's probably a labrador. I'm guessing that if Meghan had anything to do with it, it'd be a rescue dog, seeing as most of her previous pets have been adopted. Reports say they got the doggo a few months ago at the start of summer, though there's no saying whether it's a puppy or not.

"The dog is already happily ensconced at their cottage,” a different source told The Daily Mail. "Like the Sussexes, the dog will divide its time between the palace and their country home in the Cotswolds."

The Duke and Duchess call Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace in London home, though they also have a country getaway spot in the picturesque countryside of the Cotswolds area. Plenty of fields to roam in and rabbits to chase there, I imagine!

But despite all the excitement regarding the new pooch, it should be noted that a spokeswoman at Kensington Palace declined to comment on whether or not Meghan and Harry really do now own a dog together.

In any case, if it's true, the new pupper will join Meghan's other pooch – a beagle named Guy. He moved with Meghan from Canada to England when she married her prince, and it seems that Guy is adapting to royal life just as well as Meghan is.

He reportedly sat by Meghan's feet on her wedding day as she was getting her hair and makeup done. Later on that day, he was spotted sharing a ride with Her Majesty the Queen to the couple's nuptials in Windsor.

How's that for riding in style?

Back in April, the sad news was shared that the last of the Queen's beloved corgis had died. The death of Willow marked the first time the monarch did not own a corgi since the second world war. That Guy accompanied the 92-year-old to the May wedding is therefore very sweet indeed.

Meghan actually had two dogs back in her old home of Toronto. There was Guy, as well as a rescue dog called Bogart who was a companion for Guy. The labrador-shepherd cross sadly couldn't make the move to London, but was gladly adopted by some of Meghan's friends. Guy, who I'm assuming probably misses his furry pal quite a bit since his move to London last November, must be happy to have a new pal again.

We're thrilled for the couple and their new furry friend, and we're sure he'll like the long country walks the rest of the family seems to enjoy so much too.
