Reese Witherspoon's 18-year-old daughter is the spitting image of her mom

We all expect there to be a little bit of a similarity between parents and their offspring, but a lot of the time it's hard to tell they are related at all. But Reese Witherspoon's daughter, the 18-year-old Ava Phillippe, is the spitting image of her mother.

Ava is the eldest daughter of two Hollywood stars, after Witherspoon met her father, Ryan Phillippe (who she also looks much like), as co-stars on the set of Cruel Intentions. The pair were married from 1999 to 2007 and also have a 14-year-old son together. Since 2011, Witherspoon has been married to talent agent Jim Toth, with whom she has a five-year-old son.

This week, the 18-year-old Ava was spotted as she attended the Stella McCartney presentation in Los Angeles, looking just like her Oscar-winning mother. Reese Witherspoon herself, who recently won big at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards for her series Big Little Lies, wasn't in attendance, but Ava was snapped with plenty of other celebrities, including Paris Jackson and actress Chloe Bennet.

Witherspoon's series Big Little Lies was produced by her company Hello Sunshine, which she created in 2016 to have a focus on female-driven stories. So far the company has also produced such hits as Wild and Gone Girl.

These issues are clearly central to the actress' hear, as she made a speech about sexism and sexual misconduct in the film industry at Elle's Women in Hollywood event in October last year, where she was joined by her daughter Ava.

"I’ve had multiple experiences of harassment and sexual assault, and I don’t speak about them very often, but after hearing all the stories these past few days and hearing these brave women speak up tonight, the things that we’re kind of told to sweep under the rug and not talk about, it’s made me want to speak up and speak up loudly because I felt less alone this week than I’ve ever felt in my entire career."

"Who are your top female executives? Do those women have green-light power? How many women are on the board of your company? How many women are in a key position of decision-making at your company? Asking questions like that, I found, it seems so obvious, but people don’t ask those questions."

"If we can raise consciousness and really help create change, that’s what’s going to change this industry and change society," she said to the audience. "So I’m so sad that I have to talk about these issues, but it would be, I would be remiss not to."

As well as imparting her good looks, it seems like Witherspoon is teaching her the right way to be in the world, inspiring her daughter and other women to speak up against injustice. If you are interested in seeing more celebrity doubles, why not check out this list of kids who look exactly like their celeb parents.
