Rosie Leslie spills the details of her wedding to Kit Harrington
Game of Thrones fans were thrilled when they found out Kit Harrington and Rose Leslie were dating. On the show, Kit plays somber loner Jon Snow, and Rose plays the feisty Wildling warrior Ygritte. Despite coming from different places, and fighting each other in opposite armies, their fictional counterparts fell in love. Viewers shipped their charming, forbidden romance, and imagined all the freaky stuff they did together in that cave. But, this being Game of Thrones, their love story didn't have a happy ending. A little boy shot Ygritte though the back with an arrow. (Damn you, Olly!)
Sadly, Jon and Ygritte never got to have a wedding. Actually, maybe that's for the best. Weddings don't usually go well on Game of Thrones. (If a raven ever brings an invitation to a wedding in Westeros, do not save the date. Trust me.) But if you're still bummed about Jon and Ygritte, here's some good news: Kit and Rose are getting married! And hopefully her vows include the phrase, "You know nothing, Jon Snow."
The couple announced they were engaged last October. In an interview with Jonathan Ross, Kit said he originally had a big, elaborate plan to pop the question, but abandoned it. Instead, he proposed to Rose spontaneously, because the moment felt right. "I did have some plans to do it, I was going to string up some lights in some trees and do all the romantic stuff," said Kit. "[Then] we were in the country and we were under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning and red wine, and I blew my load early...[I mean] I popped my question a bit early."
Now we finally have some news about Kit and Rose's wedding, and that is that there is no news about Kit and Rose's wedding. In an interview with Town & Country, Rose said that their work schedules are so hectic, they haven't even began to plan anything. "I’m trying to fit in my wedding", said Rose "I haven’t tackled [wedding plans]. There’s just too much to do." Oh, come on, Rose. You don't have time? Game of Thrones doesn't come back until 2019, and you're not even on the show anymore! What are you so busy doing? Plus, planning a wedding is easy - just go to one of those drive-through chapels in Las Vegas.
Luckily, Game of Thrones fans are used to waiting. After all, we've been waiting for decades for George R.R. Martin to finish writing A Song of Ice And Fire, the epic fantasy series the show is based on. (Spoiler alert: He's never going to finish it.) So, I think we can make it a few more months. Hopefully when they tie the knot, they'll invite several actors from the show, so it's like a reunion. But they better not invite that actor who played Olly. He ruins everything.
