Ryan Reynolds trolls wife Blake Lively with hilarious birthday message

For some reason, us ordinary folk derive great enjoyment from peeking into the lives of the rich and famous. Whether we're scrolling through their perfectly curated Instagram accounts or picking up tabloid newspapers, our voyeuristic tendencies are only exemplified when we have a perfect celebrity coupling to get all too interested in.

The list of fan-favourite celebrity couples is ever-growing. I mean, who can forget Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder? In the years since that iconic coupling, we have seen our favourite actors, musicians and models date, marry and then inevitably divorce. And whilst you'd think that after years of reading about their love, lust and heartbreak, we'd get sick of it and concentrate on our own romantic endeavours, you're wrong. We're still way too interested in what the top one per cent does.

And who wouldn't be when there's Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively about? Not only are the two incredibly accomplished and attractive, but their down-to-earth personas have won them a legion of fans.

Despite both being on the A-List circuit, Reynolds and Lively managed to overlook each other until 2010 when they both starred in the DC superhero flick, Green Lantern. After years of just being friends, they got married in 2012 in a top-secret wedding in Charleston, South Carolina.

And now, after the birth of their two adorable daughters, James and Ines, Reynolds and Lively keep proving that they're still very much in love with every hilarious tweet and Instagram snap they post on their social media channels.

So naturally, Lively's doting husband, Ryan Reynolds took to his Instagram account to post an appropriately loving birthday message to Blake on her 30th birthday.

Well, that wasn't quite what we expected, is it?

"Happy Birthday to my amazing wife," Ryan adorably captioned the photo of him and Blake at a press event. However, in a humorous twist which perfect showcases Reynolds' dry sense of humour, he cropped the photo so that it's mostly of him... with a tiny bit of Blake Lively.

Thankfully, Blake loves Ryan's sense of humour. In fact, she has repeatedly asserted that she was drawn to Reynolds' precisely for his wit and sarcasm. In an interview with Glamour magazine last month, Lively explained that Reynolds' side-splitting tweets about their two-year-old daughter, James are completely made up.

She said:

"He’ll run them by me sometimes just to make me laugh. But oh, I’m so in love with him when he writes that stuff."

Well, if they're not "couple goals", I don't know what is. It's clear that Blake and Ryan just get each other. And in a world where people seem to be falling in and out of love so quickly, it's lovely to see two celebs who are so blatantly loved up.

In other news, love certainly is not dead as Anna Faris and Chris Pratt may not be calling quits after all - the two are reportedly attending couples counselling.
