Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart recreate that steamy scene from 'Ghost'
For a number of reasons, I find it impossible to do pottery with a straight face.
One, my remarkably inflexible sausage fingers mean that every sculpting I attempt ends in hilarious failure. This leads directly to reason two; my lack of skill means I usually resort to making crude and simple body parts instead. Finally, I can't sit in front of a pottery mill without first imagining the ghost of Patrick Swayze cradling me in a passionate and intimate embrace.
Patrick Swazye tragically passed on from this plane of existence in 2009, but movie aficionados will also recall the 1990 movie with the legendary Swazye alongside Demi Moore, where Swayze's character dies, only to return to his beloved in ghost form, including a famous, unintentionally-hilarious scene where a woman and her dead lover get up close and personal over some spinning wet clay.
You may not have seen the film, but you'll know exactly the scene I'm talking about. It's been nodded to and parodied countless time, but in all my days, I never thought I'd see Snoop Dogg reprise the now-iconic scene. However, it looks like the dream I've had for the past 12 seconds has finally come true.
We all love Snoop Dogg; the seemingly perma-stoned Long Beach native that's made as much of a name for himself as the master of the cameo as he has the rapper of such classics as Gin 'n' Juice and Drop It Like It's Hot. In the past, he's tested out Call of Duty games, narrated UFC fights, and appeared randomly in more movies and television shows than you can imagine.
If you're a Snoop fan, you might also know about his unlikely friendship with the television personality Martha Stewart. They met in 2008 after Snoop Dogg appeared on her talk show Martha, and so strong is their bond, they actually started their own cooking show last year.
2016 saw the first episode of Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party on VH1, and with season two around the corner, Martha and Snoop want you to know that they've got plenty cooking in the kitchen. The season two promo is here, and it's not just boiling pots of pasta that'll be getting steamy.
In anticipation for the second season of Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party, the celebrity duo have treated us to a recreation of that famous scene. It's important to remember, though, they're not actually sculpting a vase here (instead adding frosting to a cake) and the scene is decidedly less steamy than the one in Ghost.
Personally, I think that's down to network intervention; I'm not sure mere mortals could handle a full-blown Snoop Dogg/Martha Stewart love scene. I know that I certainly couldn't.
Either way, you can catch Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg on VH1, where Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party season two will premiere on October 16. Until then, feast your eyes upon this hilarious Ghost recreation, and be glad to have both these amazing celebrity friends in your life.
