Last week, a heartbreaking video went viral that sparked outrage amongst all animal lovers. CCTV footage recorded by the intersection of Timor Grove and Pacific Road in Stoke-on-Trent, England, showed a man cruelly abandon his Staffordshire bull terrier.

In the clip, the man drops the dog and his bed on the side of the road, then sprints back to the car. The dog chases after him, jumps up at the window, and circles the vehicle, desperately trying to get back inside. He does not. The man speeds away, while the dog tries to follow in vain.

The incident took place at around 5 pm on Monday, December 17 - that's right, just before Christmas. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Charity uploaded the clip and hopes to identify the neglectful owner(s).

"The footage has to be seen to be believed, it's just awful," stated RSPCA Inspector Natalie Perehovsky. "To see the poor dog in such obvious distress jumping up at the car as it drives away it just heart-breaking. I can't understand how someone could do this. The vets scanned his microchip and we have traced two previous owners in the Birmingham area, but do not believe either are the current owners, and therefore not those responsible for abandoning the dog."

She added, "One man can be seen clearly in the footage dumping the dog, and there is a second person in the driver seat of the car. I am very keen to hear from anyone who recognises the vehicle, the man or the dog. The veterinary staff have nicknamed the dog Snoop, and he is in good condition, thought to be two years old."

During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, Snoop appeared to be happy and healthy. Thanks to the story going viral, several people have offered to give the pup a loving home.

"We've had lots of people, he's not for rehoming yet but soon as he is we will let people know," said Perehovsky. "For now, we want to know where he's come from, any bit of information to try and piece together how he got where he was... He's been in the kennels. He's good with other dogs, he likes to be next to you. He's had so much attention."

Well, there's no need to worry about the pup's fate, because one celebrity has already made a generous offer: Snoop Dogg. That's right, multi-platinum rapper, TV cooking show host and sticky-icky blunt enthusiast, Snoop Dogg is down to adopt Snoop the Dog. It's a match made in heaven.

The hip-hop icon told The Daily Star he was also horrified by the CCTV footage. "It is heartbreaking," said Mr. Dogg. "There is always room for another dog in Casa de Snoop. If he really needed a home then he has one with us. But I don't think there is going to be any shortage of loving homes after all the exposure he has got."
