When you hear the words "plastic surgery," you might picture the worst - bulging Jessica Rabbit boobs and a frozen Jocelyn Wildenstein cat-face. But many cosmetic procedures are so well done that you'd never guess the person went under the knife. And the reasons for doing it aren't necessarily narcissistic. It cuts deeper than that (no pun intended). Some people feel body dysmorphia; a gnawing depression about their appearance that therapy may not solve. If getting  a cosmetic procedure makes them feel better about themselves, then who are we to judge?

Television personality and former model Tyra Banks wrote anew memoir with her mother, entitled Perfect Is Boring, which she wrote with her mother. In the book, she talks about what her mother taught her about self-image, and admits that she had plastic surgery early in her modeling career. "Natural beauty is unfair," Banks told People Magazine, in this week's issue. "I get really uncomfortable when women who are these natural beauties judge anybody who does anything to themselves."

So, hold back your judgment, women who are natural beauties! The America's Top Model host admits she got a nose job when she was younger  "I had bones in my nose that were growing and itching," explains Banks. "I could breathe fine, but I added cosmetic surgery. I admit it! Fake hair, and I did my nose. I feel I have a responsibility to tell the truth." So, there you have it. And as a benefit of telling the truth, her nose won't grow any longer.

Banks added that she hasn't done any "age stuff yet, but doesn't judge people who do:

"Fix it or flaunt it — I think women should be able to do both. There is a boundary line, either you’re super natural or you live at the plastic surgeon. It’s okay to hop back and forth over that line. You want a hair weave? Fine. You want permanent eyebrows? Fine. We as women need to stop judging.”

A lot of people have embraced the "no makeup" look, including Christina Aguilera, who looked stunning in an all natural photoshoot. But Banks isn't necessarily a fan:

"We place a lot of emphasis on that. As a model, I needed makeup. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. It leveled my playing field. Gisele, you don’t need it? I do! And we’re both modeling for Victoria’s Secret...

"If you like your natural self, don’t worry about it. But if you feel insecure about something… I have a magic bag of beauty tricks to make you who you want to be. Permanent or temporary, I do not judge that.”

That sounds like good advice. Let's stop judging each people for getting plastic surgery - even if they went to the plastic surgeon, and requested Owen Wilson's nose and Jay Leno's chin. You do you!

In related news, the 2018 edition of 'Sports Illustrated' has used unedited photos of models for the first time...
