HBO's Game of Thrones is full of formidable characters - from the ruthless Melisandre to the completely unredeemable Cersei Lannister. However, while it's no secret that these two women (and others) are strong in their own ways, when it comes to sheer physical strength there's one character who towers above all others, The Mountain.

Portrayed by Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who is currently the World's Strongest Man, he's Cersei's bodyguard - and given how many people she's killed in her quest to sit on the Iron Throne, it's no wonder that she chose someone as physically impressive.

This is the moment Björnsson recently beat his own personal best and deadlifted an incredible 1042lbs:

Björnsson is the third person to portray the character, and he has done so for the longest time - occupying role since 2013. Even though it was his first acting gig, he's clearly nailed it and won fans around the world.

So much so that he and his tiny wife have become something of social media celebrities.

Strong man holding a blood-stained sword.

So when he took to Twitter to ask people what they'd like to see him lift to prove his strength next, there were some very, um, shall we say, interesting answers!

By now, you're probably wondering what the hell Björnsson fuels his gigantic body with. According to JOE, he consumes the equivalent of 12 footlong sandwiches a day - that's 12,000 calories.

And, if this video is anything to go by, The Mountain is, quite literally, going from strength to strength.
