These days, Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith are the absolute definition of couple goals, and have been happily married for many years. Despite the fact that they've been together for so long, the happy couple appears to be just as much in love as they ever were. Will's current marriage has now totally overshadowed his first one, to the point that most people have totally forgotten he was ever married to anyone else.

Back in 1992 Will Smith was actually married to Sheree Zampino, and they had one son together, Willard Carroll "Trey" Smith III, who was born on November 11 that year. However, the marriage wasn't a happy one, and the couple divorced three years later - not least of which because Will met Jada during this time, and the experience totally changed his life. Now Smith has opened up about his first marriage in a candid interview; and discussed just how unhappy he was during it.

On an episode of  Red Table Talk, which aired on Monday, October 21, Smith stated: "It was one of the most bizarre emotions I ever had. We were at The Palm [in NYC] and I remember I had to get up from dinner when I had a realization that I wasn't with the person I was supposed to be with ... I have a thing, I recognize when I see a person if our relationship can be exponential. When I saw [Jada] on A Different World, I knew that there was something in our energy that would be magic."

He continued: "Me and Sheree went to dinner, and I sat down with Sheree, and it was one of the most bizarre emotions I ever had. We were at The Palm and I remember I had to get up from dinner when I had a realisation that I wasn’t with the person I was supposed to be with. But you would have stayed with her forever."

"Forever, I would have never got a divorce. I went into the bathroom in The Palm, and I broke down in tears. I was sitting in a stall in the restaurant and I was crying uncontrollably and then laughing like, 'what the heck is wrong with me?' And I knew, that was the woman I was supposed to be with."

Will has also stated that he didn't waste any time waiting around after divorcing Sheree, and called Jada immediately after. The couple married in 1997, and went on to have two children together: Jaden Smith in 1998, and Willow Smith in 2000. Personally, I feel kinda sorry for poor Sheree, but I suppose that if a marriage isn't working then you have to try to be honest about it. If the person you're with isn't right for you then there's no point trying to pretend any different, right?
