Woman posts picture of her boyfriend on Twitter and he looks exactly like Michael Jackson

Who isn't partial to a celebrity doppelgänger? At one point or the other, we've all been told that we look like such and such, but in most instances, we're not told that we look like Megan Fox or some Victoria's Secret model, rather we're informed that we resemble someone's twice removed cousin or if we're lucky... a D-list celebrity.

However, some people are born into this world with both a great blessing and curse: they resemble a celebrity. Sure, your first reaction would be to think, what could be better? I mean, the top one per cent are famous solely for being spectacularly good looking, right? And yes, it's always wonderful to win the genetic lottery but there's a definite flip side to resembling everyone's favourite actor, musician or you-name-it: no one ever shuts up about it.

This is the fate of one man who, through no fault of his own, found himself in the middle of a Twitterstorm after his girlfriend posted a selfie of him sitting in the driver's seat of a car on Twitter with the following caption: "y'all my man is so cute, look at the selfie he just sent me".

What started out as a loving gesture quickly spiralled out of control as the tweet quickly garnered 2,113 retweets and 7,904 likes. This is, of course, because the Twitter user's boyfriend bears an uncanny resemblance to the late, great Michael Jackson. Seriously, just look at the two side-by-side:

Yes, this girl's boyfriend looks exactly like the so-called King of Pop. And naturally, the people of Twitter proceeded to make an appropriately hilarious thread about it. Things got so out of hand that the thread has already been deemed as the "funniest of 2017".

It all kicked off when Twitter user @BSNComedy replied to the tweet saying, "He shouldn't take selfies while driving. He might get hit by a smooth criminal". Naturally another person added, "He won't stop til he gets enough", and then of course you have to follow that up with a reference to Wanna Be Startin' Something.

And the jokes just kept coming, user @ricksmich said "Your man just told me I rock his world", while other users made side-splitting comments such as "your man looks like he called you asking if you remembered the time??" and "Is it cause he wants to make love til break o'dawn, then show you the way to go?"

Things only really went viral, however, when a veritable Twitter comedian named Annie made the best joke of all, she simply retweeted the post and added "your man just asked me if I'm ok".

Annie's tweet went so viral, in fact, that it received 150,000 retweets, over 380,000 likes and more than 2,000 comments.

Well, I don't know about you but I am in absolute stitches over here. Let's just hope that the girl's boyfriend feels the same way because he totally did not know what he was getting himself into with all of that...
