On Monday of this week, up-and-coming rapper XXXTentacion was shot in Miami, Florida. The 20-year-old musician, whose real name was Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, does not appear to be the victim of a premeditated attack, but rather died as a result of a robbery gone wrong.

One man has already been charged in connection with the murder, meanwhile another suspect is still on the loose.

While all this has been happening, though, former friends and fans of the controversial rapper have been sharing their thoughts about him on social media - and someone has been keeping his Twitter account going for the past few days, too.

X's mother, who goes by the username @cleo_ohsojazzy on Instagram, has been sharing some particularly heartfelt posts about her late son, and on Tuesday posted a picture of the two of them with the caption, "I love you with all my heart my son. RIP."

Then, yesterday evening, she shared another image - but this one wasn't of her son. Instead, it was an ultrasound with the caption, "He left us a final gift": a clear implication that the rapper was expecting a child with someone before his untimely death.

On Twitter, the same image was posted, this time with the caption, "baby jah the legacy lives on". It's not clear at this point who the mother of the child is, but fans are overwhelmed with emotion at the news.

"So this is real?" commented one person. "jah is really gone? jah is having a baby? jah can't be here to see his child? jah baby won't have a father? I swear X's death broke the media's heart. I can't get over this s**t. I'm so f***ing heart broken."

"It makes me so mad his life was taken and it makes me wonder that if the world knew about this baby, if the murderer still would’ve targeted him," wrote another. "X always just wanted love and his girl and that child would have helped him heal so well.... Breaks my f***ing heart to pieces."

Others were not as keen to share their condolences for the rapper, however, due to the violent nature of his past.

In the last two years alone, X had spent a significant amount of time either in jail or under house arrest; and, at the time of his death, he was awaiting trial 15 felony charges - some of which were for abusing his pregnant former girlfriend.

Still, those who did support him are keen to have their voices heard.

"He had some legal allegations before, but the last year he had only been a positive influence on people's lives, making hit Billboard songs," said one fan at a vigil earlier this week. "He has been a kind person. You could look at his face and smile and he was just a normal kid like us ... His style is almost hard to explain. He had an angry tone. He meant everything he said, even the most simplistic words. It just came off his tongue like nothing. He was speaking his mind."

It is unclear whether X's mother plans to give any more details on the child any time soon.
