Christina Ricci has admitted that she had “no bond” with her daughter while filming the thriller Yellowjackets.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Let's Be Clear with Shannen Doherty podcast, the actress admitted that due to the fact that she was constantly traveling for the movie, she found it difficult to create that mother-daughter bond with her now two-year-old.

"Last year I was commuting back and forth to Vancouver for Yellowjackets. She didn't know me. We had no bond. So that was very upsetting," she said of her daughter Cleopatra, whom she shares with Mark Hampton.

Ricci also has a nine-year-old son called Freddie from a previous marriage.

"My kids do not like it when I travel. When I'm away, I try to take my son with me as much as I can," she said, before adding that while she would want her entire family there, things can get a little pricey on work trips.

"If you're a series regular, you have to pay for everything, so I can't... every time I go up and down, I can't pay for four people, four flights, you know, and the rooms that you would need and all...it's just too expensive to travel with everybody all the time," the actress admitted.

But even despite having to be away from her family for long periods at a time, she emphasized that she tries her best to find a balance.

"I try to get back as often as I can," said Ricci. "I think really the thing that I learned, especially with my son, is mixing him into my work life. Why can't he come for the weekend to a convention and see what it's like?"

Though she’s managed to juggle it all now, she admitted that it was difficult when Freddie was younger because she had to go back to work when he was just two-months-old, and her ex-husband, James Heerdegen, was no help.

"There are certain things like my son was never sleep trained because I had to go back to work when he was two months old," she said, adding that Heerdegen "wouldn't help me at all with anything.”

But the experience with her current husband, Mark Hampton, was entirely different.

"I went and shot Wednesday in Romania when she [Cleopatra] was two months old, and Mark did every single night all night long. Like I just slept and worked the next day, and it made such a huge difference,” she said. “It was so much easier this time around. You know, you have to have a good supportive partner.”
