The Spice Girls (minus Posh) might be undertaking their Spice World tour right now, but we will soon be seeing all five together in a new movie that will bring back 90s girl power in animated form, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed.

This comes over two decades since the band's famous flop turned cult classic, Spice World, which received poor reviews on its release in 1997, but has since been held up as a classic example of the decade's pop culture.

While little is known about the new movie's plot as it's in its earliest stages of development, THR has revealed that it will contain many of the band's hit 90s songs as well as a number of new tracks.

It is believed that the earliest possible release date for the new movie will be sometime in 2020.

THR reported that all five members of the band will be "very involved" with the production of the new movie, Paramount Animation president Mireille Soria revealed.

In Spice World, fans of the band saw them deal with the trails and tribulations of fame as they tried to keep their friendships strong.

The new movie will be produced by Simon Fuller, who was the Spice Girl's manager during their heyday. This is significant as Fuller's brother, Kim, wrote the original Spice World screenplay.

The new movie, on the other hand, will be written by Karen McCullah and Kiwi Smith.

Posh said that she did not participate in this year's Spice World tour because she was focusing on her fashion label. However, she did take to Instagram to wish her former bandmates all the best on May 24:
