Chinese woman rushed to hospital after sobbing uncontrollably while watching 'Avengers: Endgame'

It's safe to say that Avengers: Endgame - the grand finale of phase three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has been building and building for more than ten years - is going to be an absolute show-stopper.

Set to be the highest-grossing movie of all time, the epic blockbuster sees our heroes in one final effort to defeat Thanos following his cataclysmic snap. Will they prevail? We'll just have to buy our tickets and see.

Fans have been incredibly hyped about the movie, and the franchise has already had quite the reception abroad. In fact, all the way over in China, particularly, a university student in the city of Ningbo was left hospitalised by her reaction to the movie.

The 21-year-old woman named Xiaoli was apparently so affected moved by the film that she started hysterically crying.

At first, fellow cinemagoers thought she was just being melodramatic, but she then started to show symptoms of hyperventilation: with her chest stuffed up and she had difficulty breathing. Meanwhile, her hands and feet started to numb, to the point that she couldn't stretch out her fingers. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors gave her oxygen to calm her nerves.

Avengers: Endgame opened at midnight on Wednesday in China, and has already managed to make a record-shattering 719 million yuan ($107 million), and already the movie has the chance to become the highest-grossing film of all time at the Chinese box office.
