Fans think the 'Avengers: End Game' trailer reveals exactly how Thanos will be defeated
Ever since Avengers: Infinity War hit the cinemas, fans have had a lot of questions. Even those who'd never involved themselves with the Marvel Cinematic Universe were intrigued by the Russo brothers' destructive storyline.
At this point, it's important to note that this article does contain SPOILERS. So, if you haven't seen Avengers: Infinity War yet, you'll regret reading this!
The death of key superheroes such as Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, and Black Panther caused a major outcry among fans, many reacting with such heartbreak that it was difficult to discern if they knew the characters didn't exist in real life.
The Russo brothers were immediately targeted by concerned and impatient fans who wanted to know the true fate of their favorite character. Even NASA became embroiled in the chaos as thousands of fans bombarded the space agency with requests to save Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, who was left alone in space after Thano's snap wiped out half of the world's population.
Therefore, it was inevitable that the release of the trailer for the 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe would stir up a great deal of excitement.
Watch it here to see what all the fuss is about...
Fans waiting patiently for the trailer to be dropped, hoping that it may provide a hint about whether their hero would survive the massacre that had taken place one film prior.
The trailer was released to the public on December 7 and almost immediately the speculation began. Does Tony Stark get rescued? Where did Captain America's beard go? Who is ruling Wakanda? What made Hawkeye so mad? Why does it look as though Thor is in a prison cell? And, most crucially, how is it possible for Ant-Man to be in the film?
Of course, if you have watched Ant-Man & The Wasp then you'll know (or, maybe you won't - SPOILER ALERT) that at the end of the film, Ant-Man was in the Quantum Realm. Of course, going subatomic is incredibly dangerous and as a result, Hank Pym along with Janet and Hope Van Dyne were on standby to pull him out. However, they were never able to, because they were obliterated to dust by Thano's devastating finger snap. Thus, Ant-Man was stuck in the Quantum Realm.
However, eagle-eyed fans were able to spot that during the clip featuring Ant-Man in the Avengers: Endgame trailer, the time stamp on the surveillance footage appears to show the year 1983. This has led many Marvel fanatics to predict that the fate of 50% of the human race relies on time travel.
However, this element of the trailer could be a red herring thrown in by the Russo brothers to intentionally cause confusion - a tactic they are notorious for.
But whilst time travel may not be the key to saving the Universe, there are many other small clues in the trailer that have got dedicated fans incredibly flustered.
For example, at the end of the trailer the Marvel studio logo re-generates, a hint that the world will be restored to how it was before Thanos' snap.
Earlier in the trailer, Bruce Banner can be seen surrounded by the faces of those who are missing after Thano's decimation, this includes Peter Parker, Scott Lang, and Shuri. We already knew that Peter Parker had perished (his emotional scene with Tony Stark moments before he drifted away in a dust cloud became a sensational meme) and we had presumed Scott Lang to be in a difficult situation as a result of Thanos given the ending of Ant-Man and the Wasp. However, the news that Shuri may also have been a victim is new, and certainly surprised fans. Could Shuri have survived and now be ruling Wakanda in her brother's absence?
Then, there is the return of Hawkeye, although not the Hawkeye we all know and love. He may not have been in Avengers: Infinity War, but that doesn't mean he wasn't directly impacted when Thanos snapped his fingers.
In the trailer for Endgame, Hawkeye can be seen all dressed in black, looking thunderous. He appears to have become Ronin, a masterless samurai who operates as a lone warrior. The reason for this switch is unclear, but many fans believe that Hawkeye's darker side came to fruition when his family were vaporized by Thanos.
Later in the trailer, there is a brief clip featuring a photograph of Captain America's sweetheart, Peggy Carter. This has sparked rumors that Cap may finally get to have his dance with Carter, the one he'd promised her before he became frozen in a block of ice for the best part of a century.
With all these nuggets of information, it's no doubt that Avengers: Endgame will be the biggest film of 2019. So buckle up and make sure you clear your calendar for April 26, 2019.
