Are you ready to save the wizarding world? You better be, because the first details of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite have been released - and it looks incredible!

In case you hadn't heard already, Wizards Unite is an upcoming augmented reality game that people will play through their phones. Almost a decade after the final film was released, the free-to-play game will allow fans to place themselves in the magical universe and boasts similarities to 2016 sensation Pokémon Go.

Rather than trap wild animals in balls, this time players will search for 'foundables' - "artefacts, creatures, people and even memories" from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts books.

Developed by the same software company as Pokémon Go, Niantic, players will become new recruits from the Statute of Secret Task Force and have to cast spells to beat "confoundable" magic and return the foundables to the wizarding world.

Furthermore, they'll have to visit inns to replenish their spell power, brew potions and go to well-known locations from the books and movies.

"A calamity has befallen the wizarding world, causing artefacts, creatures, people, and even memories to mysteriously appear in the Muggle world," the website reads. "Witches and wizards from across the globe must come together to solve the mystery of The Calamity, overcome the confounding chaotic magic that surrounds these 'Foundables,' and return them to their rightful place, keeping them safe from Muggle eyes."

It continues: "Your journey begins as a new recruit of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, established by the Ministry of Magic and the International Confederation of Wizards for the purpose of investigating and containing The Calamity.

"As you step outside and explore the world, the Map will reveal Traces of magic, highlighting the location of magical Foundables. While these Traces can be found all around you, certain Foundables may be more likely to appear at various types of real-world locations including parks, banks, municipal buildings, college campuses, libraries, monuments, zoos, art galleries, and more.

"Cast a variety of spells to overcome the Confoundable magic, keep the magical Foundables safe, and send them back to the wizarding world. By returning Foundables, you’ll earn unique rewards that can be tracked in the game Registry."

There is currently no release date for the magical new game, but early previews have suggested it is "more complex" than Pokémon Go.

Gameplay footage shows that spells will be cast by tracing patterns on the screen of a handset, while there is also an opportunity for players to team up with fellow wizards to play multiplayer battles against baddies including Death Eaters and Dementors.

Fans will choose from three jobs for their character which means they are likely to have different skills and abilities from their friends. While you can't download yet, Android users are currently able to pre-register on the Google Play store, while iPhone users are advised to stay tuned for updates.

With "plenty more secrets to be revealed and mysteries to be uncovered," the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite creators have advised everyone to keep their "wand at the ready and be prepared to unite with their fellow witches and wizards!"

So, it seems the moment we've all been waiting for has finally come - our Hogwarts acceptance letters finally made it guys!
