Harry Potter Studios is hiring staff to work at its Hogwarts tour
Did you believe you'd receive a Hogwarts acceptance letter, only to be bitterly disappointed by the time you got into high school, and realized it wouldn't happen? Have you read all the books, seen all the films, and still want more from JK Rowling's insanely popular series?
Say no more! Warner Brothers Studios is hiring for its real-life Hogwarts theme park in Los Angeles.
The jobs roles are Interactor, Sales Associate, and Warehouse Associate. It seems like the Interaction is the job everyone will be vying for, as you get to talk Harry Potter and represent the series to the impressionable young minds wandering through the Great Hall.
But, don't get carried away too fast. You'll be more of a servant elf, a regular Debby, than a full-time Hogwarts student. The contract specifies shifts from 8 am until 10 pm at the "peak summer season", which sounds absolutely grueling. The usual hours are 8 am to 8 pm - a 12 hour day. Holy hell.
Still, if you're looking for a job with customer service, maybe part-time (because working 12 hours a day for an entire week would be insane) and you love Harry Potter, this may be the best chance you'll get to work in a full Harry Potter theme park. If you have extensive knowledge of the books and films, you can make perfect use of it here. Finally, a place to unload all that Dumbledore's Army training and Order of the Phoenix lore.
There's also going to be an event called Hogwarts After Dark at the end of October.
"The spooky evening will begin with smoking dry ice cocktails and canapés before stepping onto the red carpet through the doors of the wizarding school into the Great Hall, which will be transformed for Hallowe'en.
"The enchanted Great Hall ceiling will be decorated with over 100 floating pumpkins, as seen on screen in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, while the long tables will be laden with a Hallowe'en feast of red apples, pumpkins and cauldrons of lollipops."
A Harry Potter Halloween feast sounds quite enjoyable.
You can sign up for these jobs on the Warner Brothers website, and there's an 'assessment day' on September 22nd, coming up next Friday real quick. Just please, for the love of Patronus, understand that you're dealing with Warner Brothers, not kindly old droopy-hat Dumbledore.
"If you have enthusiasm, personality and a flair for customer service, this could be the place for you with either a full-time, part-time or seasonal role.
"Our Visitor Hosts are the frontline team, responsible for meeting, greeting and assisting our visitors upon arrival and again when they depart."
Wanna direct kids and talk about Harry Potter for hours? Well, then maybe this is right for you. The Interaction job sounds like the best one. Warehouse associates, like our fellow workers at Amazon, are indeed the house elves, as a warehouse is a warehouse, no matter how many sorting hats are packed inside. Warehouse jobs are rough, man...
