This article contains major spoilers from episode three of Game of Thrones.

The third episode of the last season of Game of Throne aired last night and showcased the climatic battle between the forces of Winterfell, and the armies of the Night's King. Suffice to say, it was probably the most intense episode of the entire series; taking the show 11 weeks of gruelling night shoots to complete.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Masie Williams opened up about the shooting process, stating: "Nothing can prepare you for how physically draining it is. It’s night after night, and again and again, and it just doesn’t stop. You can’t get sick, and you have to look out for yourself because there’s so much to do that nobody else can do… there are moments you’re just broken as a human and just want to cry."

However, there were plenty of characters who didn't manage to survive to the end. Scroll down to check out who made it and who didn't below:

1. Lyanna Mormont

Lady Mormont proved that no age group was exempt from harm during the melee. The ruler of Bear Island charged at a wight giant stabbed him in the eye when he picked her up. She died after being dropped by the wight giant and was later resurrected by the Night's King.

The only problem was, it was quite hard to see what was going on:

2. Beric Dondarrion

Lord Beric Dondarrion, who once led the Brotherhood Without Banners, has died and been resurrected plenty of times over the show's run. However, he met his final end this episode while saving Arya and the Hound, being stabbed by multiple wights. I guess you could call it his way of redeeming himself for all the hell he put Sandor through back in season three.

3. Dolorous Edd

Dolorous Edd has always been a fan-favourite character, thanks to his depressing outlook on life and one-liners. Sadly, he didn't survive the night, and was stabbed by a wight after saving Samwell.

4. Melisandre

The Red Woman didn't appear until fairly late in the narrative, but she definitely had an impact. We've seen how truly ancient the priestess was in a previous episode, but after using the power of the Lord of Light to help the Winterfell defenders she walked into the battlefield, removed her magic necklace and died as a result of ageing super fast.

5. Theon Greyjoy

Theon is a character who has managed to come full-circle during the last eight seasons, going from an entitled brat to a humble hero. During the Battle of Winterfell, Theon vanquished fought off dozens of wights in order to protect Bran, who thanked him and called him a good man. Sadly, he wasn't strong enough to fell the Night King himself, who stabbed him to death.

6. The Night King

The Night King, the personification of evil in Westeros, met his end at the hands of none other than Arya Stark. As he reached for his sword to kill Bran, Arya struck from behind. While he grabbed her by the throat, and Arya stabbed him in the stomach with her Valyrian steel dagger.

7. Jorah Mormont

Jorah Mormont was another fan-favourite character who didn't survive the night. After Daenerys fell off of Drogon, Jorah ran to defend her, sacrificing his own life to save hers. Dany and Drogon both mourned his death, and the show's creators confirmed it in a making-of segment.

If you want proof of how the episode went down last night, then check out Twitter's reaction to the death of little Lyanna Mormont.
