Since its release in 1993, Dazed and Confused has become a cult movie with a fairly large following. The 70s-set coming-of-age comedy follows a large ensemble of actors at a young age.

At the time, they were all relative unknowns, but in the years since we've seen several of them hit the big time - and you'll be surprised by how far they've all come in the last 25 years.

1. Ben Affleck

Affleck played Fred O'Bannion, a senior with a grudge against the freshman students. Since then, Affleck has won Oscars for Best Original Screenplay in Good Will Hunting and Best Picture for Argo, and had big roles in movies such as Gone Girl and Batman v Superman.

2. Michelle Burke

Burke played Jodi Kramer, who was trying her best to protect her little brother Mitch from the hazing he had in store for him. Nowadays she appears mostly in TV roles such as Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior and The Division.

3. Jason London

London played Randall 'Pink' Floyd, the star footballer player who struggled with the decision to sign an anti-drug pledge to stay on the team. As well as starring in Tales from the Crypt in the 90s, London later starred in shows like NCIS and Grey's Anatomy.

4. Wiley Wiggins

The role of freshman Mitch Kramer was Wiggins' first role. In the years following, he acted in a few films, and runs his own blog, though his interests have now progressed to a career in software, working as a video game designer.

5. Milla Jovavich

Jovavich was meant to have a larger role in the film, but ended up having relatively little screentime as Michelle. Jovovich's breakout role was The Fifth Element, but now she is perhaps best known for her work in the Resident Evil films.

6. Renée Zellweger

Zellweger doesn't have a single line, and many could have missed her completely - but she is in the background of certain scenes as an extra. Zellweger, of course has since won numerous awards, and is best known for the Bridget Jones series.

7. Parker Posey

Playing cheerleading squad captain Darla, one of Posey's first film roles saw her eager to haze the freshman. In the years since, she's worked in various indie movies, and most recently starred in Netflix's Lost in Space.

8. Adam Goldberg

Goldberg's Mike wants to stand up to the school bully, but it doesn't exactly go the way he thought it would. Since then, he has appeared in Friends, Saving Private Ryan, and more recently the Fargo TV series. He also works as a musician, filmmaker and photographer.

9. Rory Cochrane

Rory Cochrane played the ultimate stoner character Ron Slater, and continued to act in the following years. As well as 90s classic Empire Records, he's appeared on CSI, 24, and in Public Enemies. He also reunited with Dazed and Confused co-star Ben Affleck on the set of Argo.

10. Matthew McConaughey

His breakout role as David Wooderson gave us plenty of iconic lines, including the infamous "All right, all right, all right!". The actor then spent a fair amount of years starring in rom-coms like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, before the 'McConaissance' happened, and he landed some great roles in the likes of True Detective, The Lincoln Lawyer and Dallas Buyers Club.

With actors like Ben Affleck and Matthew McConaughey becoming some of the most recognisable actors in Hollywood, who knows who the next generation's big-time actors could be?
